The Women of Sorority Row: Caroline D’Amore

Here is part 3 of our The Women of Sorority Row series featuring socialite, Caroline D’Amore, who is most famous for being part of the Lindsay Lohan “fire crotch” incident. She has also modeled, has her own line of swimwear, is sometimes a DJ and has acted in the low budget horror film Ghost Games. D’Amore plays “Maggie” in Sorority Row which hits theaters September 11, 2009. I guess the best way to describe her is a D-list Paris Hilton.

Part 2: Jamie Chung

Sorority Row follows a group of sorority sisters who try to cover up the death of their house-sister after a prank gone wrong, only to be stalked by a serial killer themselves. It also stars Rumor Willis, Briana Evigan, Leah Pipes, Margo Harshman and Carrie Fisher.

New ‘Final Destination 4′ Pictures

Retro Slashers has really picked up their game with the addition of Christian Sellers. While the site is still the best for slasher nostalgia and information on older films, it’s also now delivering up-to-date news on films like The Final Destination. A perfect fit since the Destination films are some of the best modern slasher films to date.

The Vampire Diaries: The Return: Nightfall

Nightfall marks the start of a new chapter in The Vampire Diaries series. The Return is a sort of sub-series. This is the start of a new trilogy with the same characters, but a new focus in the story: Elena, the light beauty and the charming and her relationship with the powerful vampire of darkness, Damon. Stefan, the caring and more morally conscious vampire actually isn’t even in majority of the book. Nightfall was written over 15 years after the first book and there are obvious differences in both Smith’s growth as well as her characters. The style is similar, but more adult, dark, and everything is far more layered and complex.

Help FEARnet - WIN Free Horror DVDs

FEARnet needs your help! Time Warner Cable has recently dropped the channel from its On-Demand lineup, leaving a lot of horror fans with no way to watch the latest horror VOD releases.

So FEARnet has “created a petition, in the form of a Facebook page” (www.facebook.com/fearnet), and needs Horror Yearbook readers to join in a show of support. The best part is 4 lucky people who do join, will win free horror DVDs like the Resident Evil Trilology.

Hardware DVD Info

In the 90’s Hardware was one of those movies that I read about in the pages of Fangoria and couldn’t wait to see. I didn’t have to sit through months of EXCLUSIVE! pictures on Bloody-Disgusting, teaser trailers, trailers, red band trailers, TV spots, blah, blah, blah… I just rented it, watched it, liked i, and didn’t ever have to explain myself to some idiot on a message board. Ahhh the good’ol days before the internet ruined horror/sci-fi films.

Anywhoo…

The good news is it is finally getting an uncut DVD release in America.

Blood: The Last Vampire Opening Day Locations

Here is a list of theaters you can see Blood: The Last Vampire at starting July 10th.

(Watch trailer)

From Samuel Goldwyn Films, Blood: The Last Vampire brings to life an English language live-action feature movie of the original Japanese anime feature film from a producer of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero. Gianna (My Sassy Girl, Daisy) stars in the film as Saya, a 400-year-old demon-hunting vampire slayer working undercover in Japan for a secret organization, on a mission in the Vietnam War era. The cast also includes Koyuki (The Last Samurai, Always: Sunset on Third Street), Michael Byrne (Beyond the Sea, Gangs of New York), Colin Salmon (Resident Evil, Punisher: War Zone, Clubbed), and Allison Miller (“Kings”). The film features stunt choreographed by Cory Yuen (Transporter 3, Red Cliff), is produced by Bill Kong and Abel Nahmias, with screenplay by Chris Chow.

Resident Evil: Afterlife Confirmed

Shocktillyoudrop has confirmed that there is going to be a fourth Resident Evil movie titled, Afterlife, and that they’re aiming for a September 17, 2010 release date.

Last year Paul W.S. Anderson said he was writing another RE film, but it is unclear if he will direct or not. As for Milla Jovovich, I’m willing to bet she will be returning but it has yet to be confirmed. We will definitely be keeping you updated!

Red Band Deadgirl Clip and Trailer

Below is the red band trailer and clip for Deadgirl — a movie that I keep hearing great things about. Even our own Kelsey Zukowski called it “one of the most creative zombie films to come out in quite some time.”

(read review)

The film is getting some kind of one-weekend, theatrical release on July 24th, and then will hopefully be on DVD soon after.

Robert Rodriguez Talks Predators

Ain’t He Fat News recently chatted with Robert Rodriguez who had this to say about the plot of Predators:

I can’t go too much into the story right now, because we’re still writing. But it still involves a very intense group of people stranded on a Predator planet discovering unspeakable horrors (that are not always from outside their group). So like the original movie, the title does have a double meaning. Aliens was a different take on the Alien idea, and an original movie in it’s own right, and that’s what we want to do with this.

I normally try to avoid publishing useless quotes like this, but for some reason when I read “Predator planet” my little acorn got all drippy with excitement, and I just wanted to share that with you.

Brain Hammer’s PICKS FROM THE CRYPT Vol. 43: Summer Camp Slaughter!

Gory greetings horroryearbook alumni! Summer time is here and your old pal Brain Hammer is roasted in more ways than one. With temperatures hitting record highs, it seems like the right time to pay homage to some classic horror flicks set in the Summer. This terrible trio of Brain Hammer approved PICKS FROM THE CRYPT are three of the all time greatest summer camp slasher flicks from the 80’s that don’t have the words “Friday The 13th” in the title! It’s going to be a sizzling Summer Camp Slaughter! Don’t forget to bring a towel…and LET THE BLOODSHED BEGIN!!!

Not So Basic Instincts: Mistress of Seduction (1998)

By 1998 erotic thrillers were lucrative in the same way slashers were lucrative in the 80s. Only a few saw any kind of theatrical release, but as video stores tried to meet the supply and demand craze, lots of interesting movies popped up. It’s one of my favorite eras, and one of the most underappreciated, in the history of film. Sure it was a lot of boobs, some bullets and whatever other sensational things the filmmaker could think of, meaning it wasn’t exactly AFI material, but it was damn entertaining, and what more can you ask for on a Saturday night?

The Women of Sorority Row: Jamie Chung

Unlike our first “Woman of Sorority Row,” Audrina Patridge, I have no nudes of Jamie Chung, but we do have a few bikini pictures of her below… sorry best I could do.

What she does have in common with Patridge, is that she also got her start on reality TV with the The Real World San Diego. Besides that she really hasn’t done anything exciting — unless you consider that Dragonball Evolution movie exciting — making Sorority Row possibly the biggest project in her career, which is pretty sad for her.

Carriers Trailer

September 4, 2009 is bringing us yet another “virus” movie called, Carriers. If end of the world films is your kind of thing, then you’re going to want to check out the trailer below.

“Four friends fleeing a viral pandemic soon learn they are more dangerous than any virus.” Directed by Alex and David Pastor and starring Chris Pine, the new James T. Kirk.

Are You Ready For Three Freddys?

Jackie Earle Haley who is playing Freddy Krueger in Platinum Dunes’ raping of A Nightmare on Elm Street has confirmed that he has signed on for two more sequels. This isn’t really big news since Rooney Mara — who plays Nancy in the film — revealed the same thing 5 or 6 days ago. So basically this just reconfirms what we already know, if the first film does well there will be a part two!

Bloody-Disgusting.com — “who broke the news” — just needs to milk every story they can, to make it worth selling their soul to Brad Fuller.

To keep updated on all your Nightmare news and nostalgia be sure and visit the best Elm Street website on the Interwebs!

Vote For the Night of the Creeps DVD Cover

Until July 12th Amazon.com is allowing fans to vote on what pile of puke should be the new cover art for Night of the Creeps.

I say ummmmm…. NONE OF THE ABOVE! We waited how many years for this Fred Dekker classic to get a DVD release, and now we’re stuck with one of these AIDS inducing covers? What the hell did we ever do to Amazon to deserve this? And who photoshopped this fuckery?

I understand redoing old horror covers to make it more appealing to new fans, but the only people these monstrosities could appeal to are the blind! Hopefully someone will save us and make the original art available for bootlegging off the Internet, because this crap is bird cage lining.
