P.S. If anyone wants to sell me Storm of the Century, Creepshow, or The Stand on DVD I'd be glad.

Creepshow is pretty easy to get on DVD, I found a copy at Target for 5 bucks a while back. It was one of those cheesy flip discs with the wide screen and the full screen versions on opposite sides, but for 5 bucks I was'nt mad.

Oh yea, Stephen King films....uhhh  The Dead Zone with Christopher Walken. Especially the SNL skit they did where they parodied the Dead Zone

Not in Peru, Illinois. F.Y.E is out of all three and refuse to order them for me. And that is our only real big movie store. Besides that we only have 3 movie rental places. Another movies you cant find here for some reason are the Children of the Corn sequels and Halloween 6.

I thought the Dark Half was pretty cool...NOT JUST BECAUSE ROMERO DIRECTED IT...but that helps.

Creepshow of corpse....Romero and King   Grin   It is really all about EC Comics worship, love it!

Children of the Corn is definitely one of the best...the taking of a short story and fleshing it out into a full length feature, and done very well.  Good stuff.

The Shining  -great movie, though it has little to do with the book, which is better.  Read it if you haven't, won't disappoint!

Stand By Me   -again, quite different than the story, but cool movie.

Misery  -well done!

Carrie

Pet Semetery  -ok, the book is waaaay better, but the movie has some classic creepiness!  That damn Zelda, goosebumps!

Christine -Carpenter did a great job!

THE "FUCKIN' " MIST  -hands down my favorite!  If you have not seen this....DO IT NOW!

Anyone seen Desperation?  I'm curious, but a lot of the later day King movies haven't been so spectacular...with the exception of THE MIST!!!

I didn't dig Desperation too much. Kinda seemed to just drag on and on. Same with Nightmares & Dreamscapes.

I have a video store in my town and then the only retailers within an hour radius of me are Wal Mart, K Mart, and Family Video.  Yeah, at least you got FYE, the one by me closed down a long time ago.  I used to find some sweet used DVD's in there.  Damn, I miss that place.

I thought The Mist was good, but I thought the ending (although genius) was a little over dramatic.  I thought Riding the Bullet was awesome, but I've yet to see Desparation.  The little bit that I saw wasn't that bad, but I'm not gonna rush to see it.

Has anyone seen Needful Things?  That one has been at my video store forever, but I have yet to see it.

We also got Walmart, Target, Big Lots, and K-Mart but they carry half as many movies

Top Ten Movies Written by or based on shit written by Stephen King:

Maximum Overdrive- The only movie, King ever actually directed is possibly my favorite
Silver Bullet- I remember watching this over and over again on my dubbed copy from TNT when I was a little kid.
Stand by Me- One of my alltime favorite movies.
Return to Salem's Lot- You gotta love this simply for the vampire hunt that takes place.
Pet Semetary- Scared the shit out of me when I was a little kid.
Salem's Lot- My favorite King book.  One of my favorite vampire stories.
The Shining- No shit this is on here.
Sometimes they Come Back- I really enjoyed watching this with my grandparents when I was a little kid.
Sleepwalkers- Cool.
It- My mom said I stayed up to watch this when I was three years old.  She came into my room and noticed me sitting in my little blue chair, and then realized I was fucking watching It.  She didn't bother turning it off cause I was super into it.  I remember this from when I was a pretty small child, Child's Play, and episodes of Tales from the Crypt.

These are some more King movies that I can remember, and enjoyed.

Carrie- Scene with her hand scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.
Children of the Corn- Running over a kid like that would be pretty fucking horrifying.
Creepshow- Camp is always appreciated in the house of Gilliland.
CUJO- Intense.
Firestarter- Rad.
Cat's Eye- Rad.
The Lawn Mower Man- Double Rad.
The Stand- Rad.
The Green Mile- Good story.

I think I often overlook King these days, because I spent so much time watching his movies when I was a younger kid.  It's good to remember the greats from time to time though.  Think about all the amazing films that have come from his writing.

Christine was another one I'd watch from time to time with the Grandpa.  Fuck... I miss that old man.
