Saw this on fangoria.com and thought it was cool. I love Rigor Mortis and this dude has great taste!

Casey Orr from RIGOR MORTIS/GWARs’ top ten favorite horror flicks!

My mission was simple. Make a list of the top 10 horror movies of all time. Ok, let’s see… Frankenstein, Dracula, Nosferatu, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Hmm, what about all the Friday The 13ths, and Halloweens, and Nightmare on Elm Streets, and zombie, and Alien flicks? And all the Fulci, Argento, H.G. Lewis, Bava, Romero, and Carpenter movies? The classic Universal movies? The new breed of remakes? The Rob Zombie films? Holy shit!

Suddenly it seemed impossible. Top 100 maybe. But narrow it down to 10? That’s gonna be tough! So I thought about it long and hard and decided I’d l have to go with the one’s that really started my love affair with horror. There are so many I had to leave out. I decided to focus on the ones from my era, which meant skipping the classic greats like Frankenstein and Dracula, and I also had to ignore the more recent flicks and instead pay homage to the movies that paved the way for the horror movie genre as we know it today. I also found it difficult to list them in order of 1 through 10, so I’ve listed them chronologically.

So here ya go…

BEEFCAKE THE MIGHTY’S OF GWAR/CASEY ORR FROM RIGOR MORTIS’
TOP 10 HORROR MOVIES OF ALL TIME

The Exorcist - 1973 - A priest who is questioning his faith is forced to confront more than just his own demons when faced with a young girl who is possessed by the devil. Heads spin, beds levitate, pea soup flies, and crucifixes go where they really shouldn’t go! This movie literally scared the Hell out of people!

“Something almost beyond comprehension is happening to a girl on this street, in this house…and a man has been sent for as a last resort. This man is The Exorcist.”

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre - 1974 - Shot on a shoestring budget and utilizing guerrilla film making techniques, Tobe Hooper opened up a new door to terror with this movie. Loosely based on the true story Ed Gein, Wisconsin‘s notorious cannibal grave robber, the story centers on five young travelers who find themselves the latest prey of a twisted family of cannibals. The hitchhiker, the cook, and Leatherface are still some of the best characters in any horror flick, ever!

“Who will survive and what will be left of them?“

Jaws - 1975 - Nature is the monster in this terrifying thriller. When idyllic Amity Island becomes a feeding ground for a massive 25 foot Great White shark, no one is safe in the water. The mindless eating machine threatens to destroy the lucrative tourist season, and it’s up to a to the local sheriff to hunt down the menace with the help of a grizzled old fisherman and a marine biologist. This suspenseful classic kept a lot of movie goers out of the water for a long time!

“Don’t go in the water!”

Dawn of the Dead (Argento version) - 1978 - There were 2 versions of this movie. The American, George A. Romero cut, and the edgier Dario Argento version made for the European market. In this sequel to Night of the Living Dead, a group of people take refuge from the zombie epidemic inside the Monroeville Mall in Monroeville, PA. Just when the start to settle into some semblance of normality the mall becomes infiltrated, first by a gang of rogue bikers, and then by the zombies themselves. The movie that really kicked the zombie genre into gear.

When there’s no more room in Hell, the dead will walk the Earth.“

Halloween - 1978 - This movie pretty much started the whole slasher movie phenomenon. On Halloween 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers returns from trick-or-treating and stabs his older sister to death with a big kitchen knife. Michael spends the next 15 years in a mental institution until he escapes and returns home to kill his younger sister Laurie, and anyone else who has the misfortune of getting in his way. The original silent unstoppable mask-wearing killer!

“The night HE came home!"

Zombie - 1979 - Lucio Fulci’s masterpiece. A group of people go to a Caribbean island in search of a girl’s father. What they find is a doctor searching for a cure to a plague that is bringing the dead to life. Highlights include a zombie fighting a shark under water and a woman getting a splinter jammed into her eye in painfully slow motion! This is the movie that introduced me to the Italian horror world.

“We are going to eat you.”

Alien - 1979 - Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking sci-fi masterpiece. Returning to Earth, the mining freighter Nostromo stops to investigate an S.O.S. call. They are infiltrated by parasitic spawn and one by one fall prey to the scariest alien of all time in this atmospheric thriller! This movie literally made me jump out of my seat!

“In space no one can hear you scream.”

Friday The 13th - 1980 - Camp Crystal lake, where years earlier a young Jason Voorhees drowned due to the negligence of the camp counselors, becomes the setting for the un-killable Jason to start his bloody rampage of revenge. Carrying on in the vein of Halloween, Friday The 13th firmly established the slasher genre and open the door for the franchise films. The image of the hockey mask and the machete is burned into the American psyche like nothing else.

“They were warned…They are doomed…And on Friday the 13th, nothing will save them.”

The Shining - 1980 - Written by Stephen King and directed by Stanley Kubrick. A writer, Jack Torrance, takes a job as caretaker of an isolated hotel for the winter. His thought of uninterrupted work are shattered, as cabin fever, with a little help from the ghosts of former hotel employees and guests, drive him into homicidal madness. Danny, the son, sees disturbing visions of the hotel's past using a telepathic gift known as “The Shining”. Brilliant performance by Jack Nicholson

“Heeeere’s Johnny!"

The Evil Dead - 1981 - Five friends go to a cabin in the woods for a vacation. They discover The Book of the Dead and a tape recorder. They play back what is recorded on the tape which unleashes an evil force. The people start turning into evil deadites, and the only way to kill them is by total body dismemberment. Even the woods become possessed. One notable scene has a girl running for her life in terror only to be captured and molested by vines!

“The ultimate experience in grueling terror”

*Note: German fans can see Casey performing with RIGOR MORTIS at the KEEP IT TRUE 12 FESTIVAL on April 25th. American audiences can next see him on the road with GWAR this May.

Rigor Mortis rules, Gwar sucks. I wasn't going to mention that Casey plays in Gwar but I thought more people would read the topic if Gwar was in title.

Jason wasn't even the killer in the first film and he didn't don the mask until part 3.

Otherwise, it's a good list.

I realy must be the exception because I LOVE GWAR.. their music is awesome . Everyone says ''their music is OK but their stage show is awesome'' I agree their shows are hard to beat but the music is good too... Songs like COOL PLACE TO PARK , GOR-GOR , WAR GOUL , IF I COULD BE THAT.. There first 2 albums are great from start to finish.. a few albums in the middle of there catalog are not as consistant but '' The violence has arrived'' 2001 and ''Beyond Hell'' 2006 are pretty strong albums . Beyond Hell the first three songs i listened to for two weeks straight..and any song they write about war totaly rips... I just dont get it. Huh??

Did I say he wasn't in it?

No.

All I said was that Jason wasn't the killer in the first one.  He didn't kill that bitch, she dreamed him coming out of the lake.  Jason wasn't even a factor until Part 2, they just threw him on the end of the film as a "shock" scene to "leave it open" for another film.  You can't say at the time they knew that Jason was going to be the killer in Part 2, because he wasn't even supposed to be in part one.  And he still didn't don the mask until Part 3.

Ah yes, I did forget the 10 second flashback of him drowning.  However, considering the fact that Jason doesn't talk, I'd have to say it was his mother crying help me, you know, Mrs. Voorhees who just so happens to be the killer in Friday the 13th.  I mean, she was the one speaking in Jason's voice throughout the rest of the film, or do you not remember the iconic, "Killer her, mommy.  Kill her!"
