I just read this on Greg's MySpace and I'm not sure if he was going to publish it here or not, but I'm too excited so screw him. I also really can't wait for the opportunity to help him on the set of Slime City Massacre and plan to stay on the East Coast until it is completed. I also have read the script and can say if you're a fan of the original than you will love the sequel. You know I wouldn't say that if I didn't think it.
Facing possible rain, I drove Kaelin to downtown Buffalo today, one of my least favorite places to find my way around. Found the ONLY SPACE in a lot 2 blocks away from the Erie County Clerk's Office, 92 Franklin Street. What an awesome, gothic building with a clock tower. I had to go through a metal detector, and when my belt buckle triggered the alarm they wanted me to let go of Kaelin's hand. "Uh, I don't think that's a good idea..."
Fortunately they believed me. We went down to the basement records department--remember Wally Cox as Kolchak's newspaper researcher in THE NIGHT STRANGLER?--where I handed in my application in triplicate. What an amazing place! Card catalogues. Ledgers. Old men in bowties! It felt like something out of THE FRONT PAGE... or BRAZIL. Although I convinced the guy that there probably wasn't a company out there called The Slime City Massacre Company, I still had to search through the companies listed in two huge volumes because the computerized records only dated back to 1989 (the year SLIME was released on VHS... hmmmm). Thirty-seven dollars later, I was Doing Business As The Slime City Massacre Company.
Yesterday I received Medallion's suggersted edits for PERSONAL DEMONS, which goes into production soon to be ready in time for BEA. The notes were minimal, and I made my comments within a couple of hours. I love "track changes"! Felt weird editing PD while I'm writing its sequel, and also feels strange writing a novel while I'm getting ready to start a film.

I didn't even see this shit!
Today is the first official day of preproduction on SLIME CITY MASSACRE. Why? Because three of the five investors' checks are in the bank!
The cast:
Debbie Rochon Lee Perkins Brooke Lewis Robert Sabin Mary Bogle Roy Frumkes Tom Sweeney (UNDYING LOVE/NAKED FEAR) T.J. Merrick (SLIME CITY)
So why am I on a freaking message board when I need to be getting my movie ready? I'm just waiting on dinner is all.
I've also finsihed my first sequel to PERSONAL DEMONS and am starting the next one. THe ongoing series will be "The Jake Helman Files."

Productive weekend: horror author Kealan Patrick Burke and actor Lee Perkins - my male leads in SCM - came ot Buffalo this weekend for a cast reading and to have their faces cast for special effects. My team has now cast the faces of 3 of the 4 main characters in the film, and has finished sculpting one of the appliances. Debbie Rochon's face and torso cast will be done in NYC by Craig Lindberg, who slummed on my earlier films before moving up to the big time. I booked her flight to Buffalo a few days ago, so she's all set. I've been spending a lot of time at the ruinous locations where we'll be shooting, mapping out my shots. First production meeting with the full crew - minus WIl! - this Wed.
