The BUFFALO SCREAMS Horror Film Festival

Yes, I'm insane.  Me and another Buffalo filmmkaer, Emil Novak, who worked as the production designer on SLIME CITY MASSACRE, are starting a horror film festival in Buffalo.  Worse, we're making it a 4 day event, which means we have to sit through 400 bad films instead of 100 to find some good ones.  Anyway, we're going to make this work and we're going to make it big; we're only 2.5 hrs from Toronto, so we expect a lot of response.

One thing this will allow me to do is stay involved with the indie scene every year, instead of every 4 - 10 years when I'm able to make a new movie.

I'm trying to think of movies you should have, but I guess we have time until September. If you book most of it by yourself you won't have to watch all the shitty films. That is what I did for Silicon.

I have one advantage that a lot of these fests don't have: I know a lot of good filmmakers with films in post production.  I don't just want good films, I want premieres of good films.  We're going to book a block of shorts with each feature, so there's no avoiding going through the submissions.  Besides, the submission fees pay for guests.

The Beloit International Film Festival treats its visiting filmmakers like kings, and I want to do the same thing,  That's what spreads good word of mouth and kicks the second year into high gear.

Of course you'ds stand a chance, andif you weren't quite finished - but assured me you'd be done in time for the festival - I'd look at a close-to-finsihed cut,

It's that time of the year again, and I'm a busy mother-father. Wed-Thurs at midnight, Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival will announce the lineup for 2011: 47 films will screen over 5 days.
