i was dissapointed when i heard you threw in the towel on film. pardon the melodrama but, you owe it to your fans and the genre to manage to put out a Return to Slime City. i mean.. i'm fucking picky as hell when it comes to horror shit.. but i couldn't not love the 1st if i tried.. and alot of others obviously feel the same way. like, Slime City has the potential to branch out more than JG.. simply due to.. i don't know.. the "slime" could really happen to anyone, anywhere? it's almost a whole world in itself waiting to be tapped!

Thanks, murderpunk, but I disagree on the potential for the characters: SLIME CITY was always meant to be a stand alone effort, Johnny was always intended to be a franchise character.  I think the short GRUESOME film is the best thing I've directed and people seem to be indifferent about it, so I don't see much point in continuing in that area.  It takes 2 - 4 years to get a project done, and they consume your entire life, and I'd rather spend my free time with my daughter than on a project people aren't going to love.  So far, the other responses I've gotten to Johnny have been excellent, so if the other reviews are as good as the one in Horror World, the book wills will be a success.   have a major paperback publisher interested in a wide release for 2009.  All of the GRUESOME projects will keep me busy for another 2 years, and nextyear I'll still be celebrating the SLIME CITY 20th anniversary at different cons and festivals.

Quite honestly, my failure as a filmmaker has always been to find a producer to raise money for my projects.  I'm not doing any more $50,000 films, it's impossible to make anything that's any good for that kind of money.  I'm not going to go door to door blowing people so they'll give me $ for, either; that's what producers are for.  There are a couple of people out there looking for money for SLIME CITY MASSACRE and DEADLY RITES; if they come back to me and say, "Okay, we have the money.  Let's shoot!" I'm not going to say no.  But I'm not breaking my back looking for money only to have it always fall through at t he last minute.  I've been doing that shit for 20 years.  It sucks the life out of you, and like I said, I have a daughter to take care of.

If the money came together for SLIME CITY MASSACRE, it would be a one-time sequel, something aimed squarely a t the fans of the first film(though the GRUESOME Mini-Movie is also aimed at the fans of the first film, and few people seem to give a shit about it, so who's to say I'll please anyone with a sequel?  I have no plans to "franchise" that story beyond a potential sequel.

The only thing I'm interested in doing at this point are sequels to my novel PERSONAL DEMONS.  That's where my heart is, and if I can find time, I'll write the sequels even if they're just for myself.

The artwork for the SLIME CITY CD is finished.  It looks just like the CD cover, only Mary Huner is much larger in the composition, rather than being relegated to the bottom right hand corner.  I'm hoping to have this ready by Silicon, but it's going to be tight with everything else I'm doing.

Thanks, man.

Positive reviews of both SLIME CITY and NAKED FEAR appear in the current issue of VIDEO WATCHDOG, with Charlie Chan on the cover.

I can't believe I never posted this: I'm selling signed copies ot the SLIME CITY/NAKED FEAR DVD through my website, www.slimeguy.com--$15.00, include s & h.

It's the only way I'm ever going to make any money off this thing.

Any SLIME CITY fans out there might be interested in reading about the 20th Anniversary screenings we just had at the Beloit International Film Festival in Wisconsin: stars Robert Sabin and Mary Huner, and music composer Rob Tomaro, joined me for for 4 days of pure joy.  I wrote about the experience for Fear Zone:

http://www.fearzone.com/blog/love-beloit

And we did discuss SLIME CITY MASSACRE while we were out there,,,

the very end is when it gets truely interesting.  I do agree that it is a bit slow but I thought of it well done for a very indie film.

Actually, I've gotten a lot of good reviews for SLIME CITY, not that good reviews mean anything. And I'm sure there are a lot of 21-year-olds out there who can raise $50,000, spend 2 years of their lives working on a labor of love, get it a five-week run as a midnight movie in NYC, see it released on VHS twice and sold to 8 other countries, and have new fans discovering it 20 years later; they just don't bother because of the other shi they have to put up with.  Me, I'mjsut glad it's still around and appreciated by people who are able to overlook its flaws.

I'm sure it's cool, but I've had the dvd for months and haven't watched it yet.
But when I say I have the dvd, that just means a copy, so you probably don't give a shit about anything I have to say anyway.

Even if I do think this movie is cool, I'm sure I won't like it much, just because I won't be able to stop myself from comparing it to Street Trash, the best fucking movie ever.

Good luck with your books and everything  Smiley

Dude...this movie rocks, and I'm not just saying that because Greg frequents the MB either.  It's a delightfully gross little comedy horror flick.  Smiley

I'm guessing people melt though? I'm just saying my favorite movie is about melting people so I'd probably compare this to that, and end up liking this less than I should. I'll watch it sometime, I just haven't felt like it yet..
