Because DEADLY RITES is barely moving forward, I decided to develop SLIME CITY MASSACRE as a lower budget, alternative project. I haven't spent much time thinking about it, because there's no point unless there's at least a possibility of finding the necessary production funds, but inspiration struck tonight and I found the right hook for the project.
Rob Toamro, the SLIME composer, called me with a funny story yesterday. We're releasing the soundtrack on CD next year, and he opened the reels upon which the music was recorded--which haven't been touched in 21 years--andthey wouldn't even turn on the machine. So he took them to an audio expoert who does allsorts of specialized work for the cops and the feds,and he bakedthe tapes in a special oven for 8 hours--andthen they played perfectly! He upgraded the mix and we're on our way.

I've completed the first 8.5 paes of the screenplay for SLIME CITY MASSACRE. I stopped there because something major needs tooccur on poage 10, and I don't know what that event is yet. And something so major happened on page 5 I don't know how totop it.

When I was supposed to direct PRISON OF THE PSYCHOTIC DAMNED, I thought it would be funny if theonly male character got raped up the ass by a ghost; we've seen it happen to women a lot of times. The producer didn't like the idea though.

I can't say much about the script now because I don't work from an outline; I make it up as I go and try to surprise myself along the way. It will be one of these sequels where you don't have to have seen the original to know what's going on, because it tells a separate story with some connections. Robert Sabin will play Zachary, the occultist who possessed his character in the first film, and Mary Huner will be back as one of her two characters. The spirits in that building keep possessing new people, so I can have the same characters played by different people. Maybe I'll have an announcement to make at Silicon.
