So I'm partnering with Matt Patterson of Matty Masks to make not one but two Johnny Gruesome smasks (well, hopefully, a lot more than that!) : the economical model, which will runa round $30, and which will be based on the painting with Johnny in sunglasses I'm using right now; and the Deluxe Limited Edition mask, for around $50, with real ahir, based on the designs by Zach McCain, who illustrated the upcoming novel and did that cool EC COmics-style cover.

The masks will be ready in time for Rue Morgue's Festival of Fear at the end of August and will be at my Silicon table, but I'm really doing these because I want to own them myself!  The classic monster masks that Dan Post made and advertised in FAMOUS MONSERS POF FILMLAND were as influential on me as those Aurora monster model kits.

Some college students who will be working on the GRUESOME video asked if they could do a short documentary on me and the project. I don't know who that fat old guy playing me is, but he mini-doc is now live on YouTube and I think it turned out great:

The first of two JOHNNY GRUESOME comics that I've solicited is now live--and undead--on Johnny's website:

This one, "Chapter 23: A Day for Damnation!" was completely adapted by the talented Kelly Forbes, from Toronto: he wrote it (from my novel, of course!), drew it, and lettered it.

I can tell you it was a blast to sit back and watch someone work with my creation, much as G and Marcy italiano are doing with the GRUESOME CD. I'm thrilled with the work everyone is doing!

I chose for this medium two chapters that I feel reflect the novel's tone without spoiling the story.

The next one, "Lividity!" will go live and undead at the end of May. The vide will go up in July, the CD comes out in August, and the novel comes out in September.

The comic looks cool. I ran through it real quick before I had to leave. I will read it later. You should bring art from it to the convention then if you just get a 14 year old girl dressed like Sailor Moon you will have all the bases covered at Silicon!

We started shooting the music video--really a short film--for my JOHNNY GRUESOME novel and the GRUESOME CD by G and Marcy Italiano this past weekend. We shot on an indoor cemetery set at a haunted amusement attraction and at a real cemetery and got some excellent footage. I've posted pics on my Live Journal:

Today was the second day of filming--after a 2-week break for WHC--and we got a lot of grisly material, photos posted; I think you may get a kick out of these.
