Greg Lamberson is the creator of JOHNNY GRUESOME, which will be published as an illustrated limited edition hardcover in fall of 2007 by Bad Moon Books. Lamberson previously wrote the novel PERSONAL DEMONS and directed the cult horror SLIME CITY. He recently returned to directing with GRUESOME, a short film based on the Johnny Gruesome novel and upcoming rock CD. His website is www.slimeguy.com.

Zach McCain is the cover artist and illustrator for the limited edition hardcover of Johnny Gruesome. Zach's work has mainly appeared in publications in the horror and science fiction genres but he has done everything from web design to album artwork to creating artwork for trading cards and t-shirts. It now looks like Bad Moon Books doesn’t expect to ship the Limited Edition of my novel JOHNNY GRUESOME until mid-November, and the Lettered Edition at the end of November.  Roy Robbins and I apologize for the postponement; some unexpected production issues caused us to miss a window of opportunity for the printing, and there you have it (or don’t have it).  We wanted everyone to have their copies in time for Halloween, but now it looks like Johnny will be a Thanksgiving creature—hopefully not a turkey!

As thanks for your patience, I’ve written a new 3500-word short story, which serves as a second prologue to the novel, which will be e-mailed to customers who have already ordered the book, or order it by Halloween; it will also be included in the Halloween edition of my newsletter, The Gruesome Gazette.  The version e-mailed to pre-order customers will also feature a new illustration by Kelly Forbes, who drew the first Johnny Gruesome comic book, which is up for an award at the NYC Horror Film Festival this weekend.  If Roy has trouble collating the e-mail addresses, the story will ONLY go out in my newsletter, and I’ll post the illustration on my website.

It finally happened: today I received 2 copies each of the JOHNNY GRUESOME Limited Edition and Lettered Edition Hardcovers.  Jesus, they're beautiful!  Best looking product I've been associated with far and away, and since I'm responsible for a lot of the design, I pret-ty fuck-ing psyched!  The publisher spent all weekend packing the advance orders--about 150 out of 250 copies-- and the first customer to receive his reported in:

Maurice Tuning in Denver, Colorado is the first customer to report receiving his copy of JOHNNY GRUESOME:

The book arrived today! It is great looking. For sure I would pick it off a shelf just because of the cover. Just took the boys home so I'm going to start reading it right now..."

This is actually of interest to me because Maurice and I were close friends from 1st grade - high school graduation, and the novel is set in a fictionalized version of Fredonia, the village where we grew up. He's likely to be the only person who reads the Limited Edition who will recognize some of the locations, characters and combined names...

I also got First Look at the cover for a paperback book of mine that will receive major distribution in October; The SLIME CITY Soundtrack CD has shipped; and next week is the 20th anniversary screening at the Beloit International Film Festival in Wisconsin, where I'll be joined by stars Robert Sabin and Mary Huner, and composer Rob Tomaro.  And then I have to get a job...

I had a director contact me the other day to offer me $35,000 for the film rights so eh could direct the film on $1.5 million budget.  I don't have to direct the movie, but I do need a lot more than 35K for those rights.  That kills me, because we are IN DEEP DEBT SHIT, and that money--what would be left after taxes and sharing with the publisher, I could have paid down some of that debt.

DEADLY RITES is inching forward--we have money people interested pending casting.

You should put up a few pages online for people to get intrigued. I think the cover on the limited edition is awesome. Almost worth buying just for that, but, well you know the saying/cliche.

There are two comic book adaptations of two chapters of the book on my website, that's a lot more unique than posting sample pages.  The comics won Best Comic Book at the NYC Horror Film Festival last year.  I've been talking about this book here for two years, if people aren't interested I'm not going to cry about it.   The book msut be selling well, since Medallion is publishing PERSONAL DEMONS next year and just bought my next book, THE FRENZY WAY.
