Reading The Dain Curse, by Dashiell Hammett. Only a few pages in, but the prose style is a lot of fun and I enjoyed Red Harvest, the other Hammett I’ve read.

The uncut. Not one of his best books. I can see why it was received negatively in the states, especially if it was a jumbled mess when it was first published! Not a horrible book, but my least favorite of anything of his that I've read. His first real horror novel, The Cellar...now that is where its at. |

I bought a bunch of books the other day: I am currently reading Cormac McCarthy’s The Road a post-apocalyptic tale minus any zombies and shit. I also got Jack Kethum's Old Flames umm something by Poppy Z Brite and another one I can't remember. I also noticed Chelsea Cain has a new book out -- Sweetheart. |
