I'm about 100 pages into Lynch on Lynch, a book-length interview with David Lynch on his films, painting, life, philosophy and much more.

He refuses to talk too much about the meaning of his flms, but there's still terrific material about how he thinks, what influences him, etc.

I would like to read that Sam!  Sounds cool.

I'm reading Weaveworld by Clive Barker and Ladies Night by Jack Ketchum.

Soon to (re)start Only Revolutions by Mark Z. Danielewski.

Hey Johnny - You're restarting Only Revolutions, huh? Does that mean it's not so good, or a tough read? I bought it, opened it, couldn't make heads or tails of it, and then put it back on my shelf. It's still on my list, but...

What were your impressions?

Right now I'm beginning to read this...

I'm really into H.P. Lovecraft and his Cthulhu Mythos and this is along the lines of that stuff as well. Plus I play in a band called "Curse of Enki" so it's only natural that I read this book haha.

I'm reading Darkness Wakes by Tim Waggoner and Eternal City by Nancy Kilpatrick.

Both of them are great books.

Eternal City hooked me from the start with its mystical element.  Then, it pulled out a surprise element that has always gotten me: social commentary.  I liked the Store by Bentley Little because of the social commentary, but it overwhelmed a lot of the other aspects of the book.  Sometimes, it interrupted the flow, or the horror would interrupt the flow.  Eternal City balances mysticism, horror, attraction, romance, motherhood, adolescence, death, and social commentary with ease.

It's an amazing book.

It's interesting.  I checked it out from the library back in the fall, but I had to turn it back in and that's why i plan to restart it.  Have you read House of Leaves?  That is the author's first book, and one of the best horror novels to come out in a long time, in my opinion.  It really freaked me out.

Only Revolutions is a different beast though.  It's a novel told in prose and color and number coded.  The way it's written is that you have to read it one chapter for each character.  The Yellow side is Hailey's and the Green side is Sam's.  Each chapter is 8 pages, and the total pages is 360 for both of them.  Get it?  Like 360 degrees.  It's a well designed book, but can be frustrating.  You have to give thought to what they are saying....and it's hard to do that especially they way they are both constantly contradicting what the other says.  I read about 40 pages of it before (for each character).  The thing to keep in mind is not to be distracted by the way the  opposite characters words are on the bottom of the page.  Take your time with it and I think you'll have a blast.

I prefer House of Leaves though.

Hi Johnny - Thanks fdor your thoughts on Only Revolutions. It definitely looks challenging to me. I was so psyched for it, but the layout did put me off a bit. Still, I'll dive in sooner than later.

And I'm with you: House of Leaves is one of, if not THE, best horror novels in recent years.

So far so good.  Only about 50 pages into it so far so I got a ways to go.
