I have so little time to read, and what I do read tends to be novels, but one of John's short stories last year was my favorite of that year.  A very talented guy.

"Gruesome" is a theme song for my novel JOHNNY GRUESOME, which will premiere on Rue Morgue Radio.  If you like Alice Cooper and The Misfits, this should be right up your alley.

It's just over 2 weeks before the January 5th premiere of Giasone Italiano's "Gruesome" song. In the spirit of commercializing Christmas, I'm going to start unloading the big promotional guns for this horror tune--blurbage!

So, was Brian keen on "Gruesome"?

"Hard, sleazy, and infectious, "Gruesome's" got a wicked, irresistable vibe."

--Brian Keene

There you have it. If you still haven't checked out Richard Hipson's "Gruesome Tales" article over on Insidious Reflections, please consider giving it a shot; it's very well written:

I'm off to see ROCKY BALBOA a second time.  Good day, eh!

The worse news?  This one is out of print on VHS!  I want Shock-O-Rama to release it on DVD--possibly in 2008, when I'll be hyping SLIME CITY's 20th anniversary--but they want me to do a documentary for it.  I'd like to, but have no time at the moment.  The film's real title is UNDYING LOVE.

Richard Hipson has been working long and hard on an article about my upcoming novel JOHNNY GRUESOME, the "Gruesome" song co-written by Giasone and Marcy Italiano, and some of our multi-media plans for the joint projects.

That article, "Gruesome Tales from Beyond the Grave - the Definitive Dig" is now live (or at least undead)on the Insidious Reflections website.  I'm thrilled to death with this monster article and hope you'll give it a read:

I'm dying for ROCKY BALBOA but don't give a crap about RAMBO IV.  I think RAMBO FIRST BLOOD II is a classic.  It may be silly, but it works on such a primeval level.  I used to like FIRST BLOOD until I read the novel.  I've read the novel, like 20 times, and it's one of my favorites.  It begins like this:

"His name was Rambo, and he was just some nothing kid for all anyone knew, standing by the pump of a gas station on the outskirts of madison, Kentucky.  He had a long heavy beard, and his hair was hanging down over his ears to his neck, and he had his hand out trying to thumb a ride from a car that was stopped at the pump.  To see him there, leaning on one hip,  a coke bottle in his hand and a rolled-up sleeping bag near his boots onthe tar pavement,  you could never haveguessed that on Tuesday,  a day later, most of the police in Basalt County would be hunting him down.  Certainly you could not have guessed that by Thursday he would be running from the Kentucky national Guard and the polic eof six counties and a good many private citixens who liked to shoot.  But then from just seeing him there ragged and dusty by the pump of the gas station, you would never have figured the kind of kid Rambo was, or what was about to make it all begin."

Awesome shit.

Anyway, RAMBO III sucked, and in the new one, Rambo will be a joined by a team of younger fighters (remember BLADE: TRINITY?), which is antithetical to the character.

Phooey!

I'm a die hard Rue Morgue fan; any mag that does a cover story on THE HILARIOUS HOUSE OF FRIGHTENSTEIN is aces in my book.  The Other glossy magazine, though, I'm finished with.

I have to admit I like ALL of these horror podcast shows, not just RMR; I enjoy the gothic music and the funny quotes from cheesy flicks.  Thanks for this plug, Wil.
