Since I'm a big fan of the Corman version, I will most likely be forking my money over to see the "remake." The trailer looks cool, and so do the piranha. Found this news flash on Shock Till You Drop website about what will be in store for the DVD.

Director Alex Aja assured us this afternoon that when Piranha 3D swims onto DVD and Blu-Ray, it will be a director's cut.

"People will be more surprised of the director's cut of the film," he says. "Five or six minutes of extreme footage will be put back in. Piranha is a pretty expensive movie and it is not only sustaining the genre, but the audience, so we had to get rid of some of the violence and other stuff, but DVD is more open."

He adds some bonus sexiness will be included in the package including "Wild, Wild Girls" webisodes along with a lengthy documentary on the making of the film. Also look for storyboards for some of the bigger scenes that got cut due to budget.

As for an American version of High Tension, his 2003 horror debut: "We had some offers to do it six or seven years ago. But there is only six or seven minutes of dialogue in the film. I am sure that they will remake it but I won't be the one doing it."

Somebody please explain why every time I spell the director's last name, it gets transposed as Ass? I have fixed the spelling a few times but it won't take. So. I abbreviated his last name to A. Strange. Like, fucking strange.Shocked

No problem, I'm still down with this site. I just thought it was really odd it was doing that. We're cool.  Cool Since AV Maniacs' forum is having server problems, at the moment, I might be here more often.

Any news like this is appreciated. It is hard for me to keep up with everything going on in the entertainment world. I'm just one person with very little help.

This is pretty much what I like to do over at AV Maniacs. Since I'm a fan of most of these kind of movies, when I hear some really exciting news, it's just natural that I would wanna share it with like minded people. I hope ot God this flick is good. I'm a sucker for Nature run amok flicks. Though, technically, I'd say Corman's version is Science run amok, I seem to recall the piranha in that one were created by the army as a type of weapon.

I'm obsessed with killer animal flicks too. That is why Pig Hunt was such a disappointment. The killer pig has nothing to do with the film until the very end, and I'm not talking about you don't see what it looks like until the end. It has nothing to do with the plot until the end.

I love Anaconda and Congo! lol

This is good to know about Pig Hunt. I have a strange obsession with giant killer boar flicks and giant rat movies, and I was wondering how much Nature is actually running amok in that film as opposed to man running amok. Damn, I was so looking forward to possibly picking it up on DVD in September. Christ, I even have a post dedicated to it and ROAD KILL on my blog. RAZORBACK then seems to be the ONLY good Killer Boar Flick. I have to admit, though, the jury is still out on Korea's version, CHAW.

I heard the makers of PIG HUNT even have an idea for a sequel, as it was mentioned in the Fangoria article. Something about a Katrina-like disaster hitting and this time a bunch of boars getting loose and creating mayhem.

Love ANACONDA, hated CONGO.

Now, ROGUE . . . best giant croc flick ever made. Best three killer croc flicks: ROGUE, ALLIGATOR, LAKE PLACID.

The movie wasn't horrible and probably one of the better flicks in the Fangoria FrightFest series, but like I said it did disappoint on the killer pig angle.

Rogue could arguably be one of the top ten or top five greatest animal killer flicks ever. Do you like any of the really, really bad Sci-Fi movie ones? I was obsessed with Python movies back in 2003. I loved the one where it is attacking the chick in the shower and she squirts shampoo in its eyes.

Can't stand any of those SciFi channel flicks. If they would just make the CGI look a lot less like a bad video game, I might be able to get into them. I came close with SAND WORMS, but most of their flicks are cleverly discguised action flicks where the monsters are merely supporting characters within their own movies. Though, I do own MINOTAUR, but that wasn't strictly a SciFi channel original  movie, but an independant flick they acquired, like BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR, which they also aired.

Having said all that, I always tune in on the remote chance I'll be able to sit through one of them. But it's always 15 minutes then I'm out. Still, I'll most likely be right there in front of the tube when SHARKTOPUS comes on. Seen the trailer of that one, yet? Well, it works in trailer form, I'll give that.

Yeah, it's got some descent scenes, and the trailer indeed makes you wanna check it out, which I will do, but I'm leery of what the final product will look like. Here's to hoping, though.

The more I read about this flick, the more I wanna see it. Got this from SyFy website (http://blastr.com/2010/07/we-tell-you-about-the-pir.php) that details some of the carnage/nudity that will be on display. Spoilers, don't read any further if you don't wanna know how some of these poor bastards kick the bucket:
__________________________________________________ _______________

So what was so R-rated that it wasn't suitable for Comic-Con's family audiences? We saw all the bloody fish kills and naked boobies, and this is only in the 10-minute highlights reel. Director Alexandre Aja promises they have much more good stuff when the film opens on August 20. But spoiler alert if you don't want to know any surprises.

A topless girl. No, a REALLY topless girl

You've seen the gag where a cable snaps and slices through a victim in horror movies before. Piranha 3-D wins for using the cable to slice through a bikini babe's top. Unfortunately, as soon as the top pops open, you also see her entire top half flop into the water.

Bitten below the belt

The men get their share of fish-bite violence. We won't spoil who, but somebody gets a piranha bite right in the junk.

Girl-on girl-skinny dipping

Okay, here's what probably got the movie banned from Comic-Con. You can show all the violence you want, but Kelly Brook and Riley Steele caressing each other underwater wearing nothing but flippers is too much. Steele says she really held her breath that whole time. That's what they call acting.

Rescue mission goes wrong

When you see two good Samaritans carrying a woman out of the water, it looks like a good rescue. This poor piranha victim splits in half, leaving each of the rescuers spilling her guts on the beach.

An Inglourious Basterd hosts a wet T-shirt contest

Eli Roth continues his acting career after the Oscar-nominated Inglourious Basterds. In Piranha 3-D, he's spraying thronged asses with a hose and dousing white tank tops until they're see through. He also refers to the girls as "weapons of masturbation." What, you can't say masturbation at Comic-Con?

Face/Off

One poor swimmer gets her lovely blonde hair caught in a speedboat propeller. That doesn't stop a panicked sailor from attempting a getaway. When he starts the motor, it pulls her face clean off her eyeballs.

Water trampling

When the panic starts and all the partiers try to get out of the water, some of the humans cause more violence than the piranhas. Speedboats drive over helpless swimmers. If you didn't like the idea of Eli Roth's wet T-shirt contest, you might be pleased that he gets his comeuppance when his head is crushed between two speedboats.

A hot girl pukes in your face

I don't know if puke is R-rated—but it sure is gross. Making tasteful use of the 3-D effect, they've got a girl barfing over the side of a boat, right into the camera, and therefore right in your face.
