Asteroids

"Universal Pictures has won a four-studio bidding war to pick up the film rights to the classic Atari video game "Asteroids."
Matthew Lopez will write the script for the feature adaptation.
In "Asteroids," originally released as an arcade game in 1979, a player controlled a triangular spaceship in an asteroid field. The object was to shoot and destroy the hulking masses of rock and the occasional flying saucer while avoiding smashing into both."
Can you believe there was four-studio bidding war to get the rights to make a shitty movie about an old video game (a classic but...)!

I heard a bit of casting news! It turns out Bruce Willis, Ben Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Michael Clark Duncan, and Steve Buscemi are set to star. And Aerosmith is doing the theme song....oh wait.
Whats even more baffling than the studios getting in a bidding war for a video game movie is that any one of them could have made the movie and plastered another name on it.
I'd rather see a movie based on Centipede.

I'm sure Dennis Hopper would do it, he's not doing too much lately and could use the work.
