SyFy has playing playing the old V shit the last few days, I loved it as a wee Brain Hammer, but now...not so much.

I caught the last 20 minutes or so before I had to leave for work. I caught a joking reference to "universal health care." Looks like they are trying hard to make it modern.

It was alright I guess. I probably won't keep watching it though.

The first episode wasn't bad. The head alien is excellent! The problem is I don't know how they're going to keep it interesting for an entire season. We already know what they are so there is no surprise or mystery. I bet it fizzles out and gets canceled.

I read that the show will be taking a hiatus for the olympics anyways. There's a lot of buzz about it online and the reviews were decent. Not sure how many people actually watched it though.

It's pretty obvious the human boy will fuck the alien chick and make an alien baby. We know that. The new twist is the idea of Visitor "sleeper cells" that will randomly attack the humans. Making the aliens terrorists - another modern twist.

People still pretend they care about the Olympics?

I look for this to be canceled eventually too. Not that it isn't a decent show so far, but so was ABC's "Invasion" that worked under a similar premise and it got shit canned on a cliff hanger.

I'm sure there's an old V topic kicking around somewhere, but I'd rather post this here...

V was a serious HAPPENING when it first aired. I was in third grade at the time, and the only way to pass the coolness test was to be able to recite EVERYTHING in detail that happened the night before. My parents taped both of the mini-series and I used to watch the tv show.

That was the magical world BEFORE the internet when nothing could be spoiled for you. All you had was TV Guide and they weren't giving up shit for details. Every night more and more suprises kept smashing you over the head. It made you ignore the fact that the "aliens" were a bunch of ugly actors in red jumpsuits and shades. Those were good fucking times!  Cool

I know this is a remake and we all knew the twist already, but they revealed too much in the first episode. Now it looks like they're bringing her partner back and the resistance is going to start in episode three? They are sure rushing things, and they better be careful because this could get boring quick (I know episode two was).

There are also no fun characters. The main alien chick is great, but besides that they are all the same. The FBI lady is a bore, and the supporting cast are like a bunch of cardboard cutouts. Battlestar had a lot of personalities, True Blood has a lot of personalities, it is what makes shows good. They need to introduce someone interesting quick!

LOL Me too. I never watched any of the original series, but I remember having a couple comic books based off it.

I was a HUGE fan of V when I was a wee Brain Hammer. About a year ago I bought the first miniseries on dvd and I thought it sucked.  Cry Nostalgia is a BITCH sometimes...

Yeah, I feel the same way about a few series from the late 80's/early 90's. Nothing like having warm and fuzzy nostalgic feelings from your childhood shattered by a trip down memory lane. Especially when you shell out money for it.

V was a lot of fun for T.V. back then. the not-so-special effects were good. the giant spaceships hovering over cities were cool and the NEON RED laser blasts were sweet. What 10 year old boy didn't want to bang the head alien chick ?  Every few episodes an alien would chow down on hamster or bird and and there was something about that friendly alien that you couldnt quite figure out.  It was all just a warm up for movies like CREATURE and GALAXY of TERROR.
