USA Saturday Nightmares was an unhosted show on the USA Network in the 1980s and early 1990s. The show came on at 8:00 p.m. every Saturday night. They showed a lot of B Horror and Sci-Fi Films. Most of the movies shown also appeared on Commander USA's Groovie Movies. They also showed episodes of The New Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Hitchhiker, and The Ray Bradbury Theater.

The most famous intro to the series had you going through a house where the paintings changed. It started outside the house and moved inward. The first painting went from Frankenstein, Dracula, The Phantom of the Opera, Mr. Hyde, and The Wolfman. The second painting changed between The Brood, Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, and Freddy Krueger. The last part of the intro showed a movie screen and the voice over would welcome you.

Saturday Nightmares also had bumpers that featured scenes from B horror films as well as scenes from old episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

I didn't have one of those nifty regional cable tv horror hosts in my area, so I grew up watching edited horror movies on the following four USA Network shows:

Night Flight
Commander USA's Groovie Movies
USA Saturday Nightmares
USA's Up All Night

USA Network was the shit!!!

I also used to watch Joe Bob Brigg's Drive-In Saturday Night on The Movie Channel.

I caught some of USA's late night horror shows towards their end, but being that I'm ten years younger than the rest of you grandpas, I'd have to say my love for horror was concreted by the SciFi Channel and Monstervision.  I remember seeing Blood Diner, Raw Head Rex, Lair of the White Worm, Hellraiser, all my old favorites on the SciFi channel, and I remember seeing Return of the Living Dead 2 and the Phantasm series for the first time through Joe Bob.  One of us needs to get fucking rich and start a NEW late night horror show.

YES!  I used to watch this, but I can't remember any of the ones I watched except for "Slugs" and "They Nest".  Good times.  Miss those days.

I wish USA was still as cool as it was back then.
