Agreed, I've seen all the sequels, but I still haven't seen the original.

Got this from horrordvds.com: Sad news for slasher fans, as Media Blaster's upcoming DVD treatment of one of the worst slasher movies ever made, 1981's SCREAM, has been indefinitely postponed. The same goes for their RIOT ON 42ND STREET and RAREFLIX sets (Vol. 5 & 6). Production Supervisor Richard York says the "originally announced release dates are now null" and "to the best of my knowledge, these titles will come out at a later date but those dates have yet to be set by sales and management." It sounds like more than a delay...these titles, and future Media Blasters product seem to be in limbo. This news just following their noteworthy release of the jam packed DVD of PSYCHOS IN LOVE. Another product of the recession? Say it ain't so. Hopefully these do see the light of day, for at the very least people deserve to at least see the inexplicable SCREAM ending at least once in a digital format.

On November 11, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release on DVD the classic 1966 British suspense thriller A STUDY IN TERROR. Jack the Ripper is terrorizing London in the late 1800s and the only man capable of solving the insidious crimes is the master mind super-sleuth, Sherlock Holmes. A fan favorite and long-awaited on DVD, the film stars John Neville, Donald Houston, Anthony Quayle, Barbara Windsor, Adrienne Corri and Robert Morley. Executive produced by Herman Cohen (BERSERK, TROG) and directed by James Hill. The DVD will retail for $19.95 but will be available for less from various online outlets.

On August 11th, THE WEEKEND MURDERS, a 1972 giallo often paired with BLACK BELLY OF THE TARANTULA in the States, will make its DVD debut from Code Red DVD. A large English family meet at the family's estate for the reading of their father's will, and no sooner than the will is read, a series of murders start to take place. Can't be the butler, as he was the first victim! Directed by Michele Lupo, the films stars Opera legend Anna Moffo, plus Peter Baldwin (THE GHOST), Eveline Stewart (KILL BABY KILL), Gaston Moschin (GODFATHER 2), British comedian Lance Percival and Giacomo Rossi-Stuart (THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE). Code Red is proud to present the film for the first time anywhere in widescreen, from a HiDef master. Extras include an audio commentary with star Peter Baldwin and HOSTEL producer Scott Spiegel, as well as an on camera interview with Baldwin, original U.S trailer and still a gallery. MSRP is $24.98.

A dysfunctional family, the Hoffmans, have been living their lives in a veil of secrecy. Incest, rape are a part of their everyday lives. A product of which, is Jessicka (Elske). After years of nameless abuse of her family and neighbors, Jessicka has been reduced to something less than human. She's more of a family pet than she is a true member of the family. Jessicka is the tragic character brought up from her surroundings, and suddenly finds her opportunity for revenge. The DVD will have many special features including “The Ashtray”, a short film by Matthew Reel. Also included will be a behind the scenes featurette, Lloyd Kaufman’s outtakes, an unreleased music video for the song “Rabies is a Killer” by Agony Bag (1980) and trailers. The DVD is available for pre-order at www.jessickarabid.com.

I'll put this here too: NBC’s monumental failure Fear Itself is finally being released on DVD. It is a four-disc set that includes all 13 episodes, including five that were never aired, and four director’s cuts. Which is kind of lame. You think there would have been a few more episodes with footage too graphic for TV — thus a few more “director’s cuts” included in the box set. However, the good news is that it only costs around $30. Not bad for a new DVD TV Box Set. The set will be available on September 15, 2009. Here are the episodes: Stuart Gordon’s Eater Breck Eisner’s The Sacrifice Mary Harron’s Community John Landis’ In Sickness and In Health Brad Anderson’s Spooked Ronny Yu’s The Family Man Darren Lynn Bousman’s New Year’s Day Larry Fessenden’s Skin and Bones The unaired episodes: Ernest Dickerson’s Something With Bite, Rob Schmidt’s The Spirit Box,John Dahl’s Chance, Rupert Wainwright’s Echoes and Eduardo Rodriguez’s The Circle.

October 6th, 2009 is the release date listed on the First Look Studios website for their DVD of the IT'S ALIVE remake. Directed by Josef Rusnak from a script by Larry Cohen, Paul Sopocy, James Portolese (based on Larry Cohen's original film of the same name) and starring Bijou Phillips (HOSTEL: PART II, WIZARD OF GORE), James Murray (TV's PRIMEVAL), Skye Bennett (DARK FLOORS), Raphaël Coleman and Arkie Reece, IT'S ALIVE is a modern remake of the classic 1970s horror film. When a young woman (Bijou Phillips) learns that she is pregnant, she leaves graduate school to set up a home with her boyfriend in the country. The fate of the happy new family takes a gruesome turn when animals and people end up brutally dead – all with a strange connection to their newborn. Could their new child be the monster responsible for the gruesome murders?

Well I got my wish! Starring Terry O’Quinn in a career-launching role as a man obsessed with heading the perfect family who marries into fatherless families—only to kill them when they don’t live up to his standards, THE STEPFATHER will street October 13 to tie in to the theatrical release of the remake. The DVD will feature a new high-definition widescreen transfer and include a number of special features, including audio commentary by and interviews with producer Jay Benson and actress Jill Schoelen (who plays the villain’s suspicious stepdaughter), plus more to be announced. Retail price is $19.99; stay tuned for the full content details.

On September 29, Redemption USA will release the 1971 British film BURKE AND HARE, a Hammer Horror-style thriller recreating the story of the (in)famous Irish body snatchers. In the early 1800s, the supply of corpses used for medical research were limited to those of executed criminals, leaving a great demand from medical schools. When a resident in Burke and Hare's boarding house dies, they recognize the business potential in grave-robbing. Demand for dead bodies grows so high, they start speeding up the death process on their victims! However, suspicions arise when they murder a man seen earlier that day. The film stars Derren Nesbitt, Glynn Edwards, Harry Andrews, Francoise Pascal and Yutte Stensgaard (LUST FOR A VAMPIRE). Directed by Vernon Sewell (THE CRIMSON CULT). The disc will contain a full frame transfer and retail for $19.99.
