Just read this and now I definently have a problem with her:

Quote
Hey everyone!

It’s been almost 2 weeks since we unleashed our Kickstarter campaign and we’re happy to have raised almost $1,000. But we have a long way to go to make this happen.

I’ll admit, a week or so ago when I was contacted by a major distribution company who is interested in releasing the Popcorn DVD, I got starry-eyed and thought, “Well, if this happens we don’t even have to worry about the Kickstarter campaign!” But I had to get real. From the start we wholeheartedly planned to release this independently. This meant filming the documentary, printing all of the materials, paying the filming crew full of industry professionals dedicating their time and effort, and replicating the DVDs. $16,000 was the lowest amount of money we could use to do all of this. If you know anything about the DVD industry then you understand how expensive it is to release a DVD.

46 days may seem like a long time, but it’s not. We only have until June 6th to get this show on the road. This project isn’t about me though, it’s about all of the fans who want to see this happen. People complain about not getting their favorite movies re-released in nice, spiffed up editions, but here is a chance for you to be the ones making the choice. Do you want this to happen? Then donate to the cause.

We’re not asking for everyone to donate $1,000, in fact if everyone could reach out to their friends and family and have them each donate $1 or $5 we could be there in no time.

If you want to see this happen, we need to mobilize. We’re calling on you. Let’s make this happen.

That bolded portion pretty much shows she doesn't know how to actually get the job done. Fans don't honestly care if she releases a DVD, they just want one released. SO IF SHE WAS IN CONTACT WITH A "MAJOR DVD DISTRIBUTOR WHO WILL PAY FOR ALL OF THAT SHIT THEN WHY WOULD SHE SAY NO? I'm now convinced that she is getting something extra from this. She either plans on making more than the cost or she want's to be known as "That one chick who distributed a DVD while not paying for it" (AKA glory whore).

I'm also pretty sure that this "company" would have no problem with having all this fancy jazz going along with the DVD. In fact, they might even pay for the documentary. I don't see why she would turn down someone with money to help her accomplish her dream which needs money.

Awe, shit, man, I thought she was legit. Should I delete this thread then? Obviously, it's a scam, or something.

Naw it isn't a scam I was just drunk and acting like a maniac. Hasn't happened in a long time. She is a nice chick and writes for a lot of big horror magazines. It is just insane to think people would give her money to shoot a documentary about Popcorn.

Looks like your comments got to her Birdman! If she only knew that a 12-year-old made her look dumb.

However, I still don't think she gets it, kind of like the Code Red guy. I'm HAPPY that Code Red releases products that are not normally available to me, but I'm not GRATEFUL. I will be grateful to the person who gives me a new kidney, not to the person who releases The Mutilator on DVD.

She keeps explaining her struggles to release Popcorn on DVD, and I could care less.   If she wants to release Popcorn on DVD good for her, if she wants to blog about her journey to get it done, good for her, but when you start making it my problem, or expecting me to feel bad for you that is another story. She crossed a line once she made it the horror fans' responsibility to release Popcorn on DVD. Horror fans owe her nothing, and to ask us to pay for her pet project is not only self-indulgent, but it's borderline insane IMO.

Anyway here is her latest blog clearing up that is costs a lot of money to release a DVD.

Taking a look back at my last blog post I realize I started talking about the fact that a distributor had contacted me and expressed interest in releasing the DVD we’re working on. I failed to mention that the reason I had to “get real” was because the deal fell through. They may come around once everything is finished, but for now we’re on our own for funding this documentary.

I was a bit naive when I started all of this, thinking that it would be super cheap to finance a documentary when I already had participation from all of the cast members, I was so wrong. I had my Kickstarter project approved in December and didn’t release it until April…that gives you a little insight into how long I tried to find ways to do this for the bare minimum. I know many professionals who make special features for DVDs as well as produce feature length documentaries revolving around cult film, and the price it takes to make these is staggering. You have to think of crew, travel to said destination, and other incidentals like paying locations to shoot at, permits…there are so many things I had never thought of.

Then it came to what I wanted to do with the special features…I was extremely naive in that respect too. I managed to find a friend in the business who agreed to restore a print of Popcorn for the bargain basement price of $3400. On top of that, I have to pay the artists who are creating artwork for this, I have to print the posters, booklets and deal with replicating the DVDs. If you think I won’t end up paying out of my own pocket for some of this…you’re crazy.

I just felt I needed to give some insight into what the cost of making this dream a reality is. If a company comes along and says “we’ll take care of making the DVD, all you have to do is continue on with the doc” I would ABSOLUTELY accept that. It’d be 1000x less stressful than dealing with everything I have had to endure thus far as a precocious first timer. At that point the Kickstarter campaign would end, but until then, we have to keep going.

Thank you for all of your support and please keep spreading the word!

I must clarify that I'm 18, so that Kristy Jett doesn't feel quite as bad, and that I knew this wasn't a scam. But she made it sound like she told off some people who were trying to help and that annoyed me. And also what I said is true, if she uses this money to make the materials, there is no way she would not be able to make some sort of a profit off this. I dunno if she plans to keep that profit, fund more projects, or just keep making so many popcorn dvds so that their value goes down, but the way it's set up is that she can only benefit from this whole process. Even if it fails, she still has the knowledge that people are supporting her and that people, like me, now know who she is.

She also says that she'll even still have to pay out of her pocket for this and that leads towards more ideas that she may be looking to, at least, break even. I know that I would if I spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on a "passion project" that is just a dvd (Of course I wouldn't be asking fans for $16,000. I'd be asking distributors, production companies, etc.).

So if you are reading this Kristy Jett, I admire what you are attempting to accomplish but maybe you are asking the wrong people to donate to your project.

And still, she isn't a business woman.  Angry  Grin  Huh
