ABOUT THIS PROJECT: The best way to learn all about what this project is all about is to watch the video, but the crux of it is that we are making a retrospective documentary for the DVD re-release of Popcorn, along with a host of other fan-centric special features.
This DVD re-release will include all new special features including a retrospective documentary, cast commentary, stills gallery featuring behind the scenes photos and a feature entitled “Your Favorite Films Don’t Have To Make Sense” where Kristy Jett and Ryan Lieske dissect the film’s weaker elements.
The packaging will include a collector’s booklet along with a reversible collectible poster featuring all new artwork from Jeff Zornow, Christopher Ott and Steve Jencks.
We have participation from all but 2 members of the principal cast, but are working towards full participation. We will be interviewing and reuniting all cast members available and recording new special features with them for die-hard fans of this film.
The funding is to complete the retrospective documentary including some travel locations, and also to author the DVD and produce it, along with all materials associated with the DVD.
This is a completely fan-funded project.
Project location: Rochester, NY

Plus $16,000 is a little too much to ask for traveling and a few hotel rooms.

I don't think they're going to make their goal.

I think people from Fright Rags are behind this one.
Actually if you watch the video it's your fat friend from Buffalo.

It's cool that they're trying to do this, but who's really going to donate money to get a movie released on DVD? Unless you get a free copy of the DVD (you get free copy at $100 lol) It's almost like asking for a small business loan, a loan they don't plan to repay. Did they say where the money from the sales go? If the profits went back into other "fan funded" DVDs then maybe it would be a good idea, but this is basically some chick who wants to go to conventions for free.
You should also read the flame war on the comments page

During the flame war (which I of course stuck my nose in) she mentions that all the profits are going to pay for the licensing of the film. She also says something about having to understand her contract.
I love horror films, but if I have to donate money to own it on DVD, I will just stick with the VHS.

And if they don't raise enough money do the people who donated get refunds?

I assume you do, if not the entire thing is a scam. The page does say "THIS PROJECT WILL ONLY BE FUNDED IF AT LEAST $16,000 IS PLEDGED BY MONDAY JUN 6, 12:41PM EDT." I hate to be so harsh but what I said is 100% true http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/popcorn/popcorn-dvd-re-release/comments

You give your credit card info, and it doesn't charge you unless the project is totally funded.

oh ok. I was reading the flame war and she was getting pretty pissy and was very hesitant in answering questions.

Well why would you even consider donating money to buy a DVD? It's so insane that I can't handle it! Please everyone in the world tell me it's insane to donate money so you can buy a DVD. Please, please tell me I'm not living in the Twilight Zone!

"And the money you are donating, it's your way of helping out, and having that geeky knowledge of knowing that you did so." -- Nuff said
I surrender, and give my blessing to anyone who wants to giveaway their money so they can have that, "geeky knowledge of knowing that they did so..."
