I'm late to this party but oh well.
Wil, you can add me to the list of writers who liked "Hostel 2". Actually, I fucking loved it. I'm also a big fan of Eli Roth, have been since I heard the "Bloodsucking Freaks" commentary track he did. That was before "Cabin Fever" had even come out yet.
I won't get into the issues of sexuality, because that shit's for fags. (kidding)

I could not care less if Eli Roth is unoriginal; most filmmakers aren't. But it doesn't take much imagination to torture people for 90 minutes. And he's got a big fucking head; I know plenty of peple who have met him and said he was an absolute dick to them. When I read these interviews with him talking about how symbolic and political HOSTEL is, I think he's full of shit. I've seen the same letter that was posted here on other sites, and I think it's pathetic. Begging people to pay attention to your work is something that nobodys like me have to do; it's unseemly to see a big shot with Hollywood clout do the same thing. I'd be embarrassed for the guy if I didn't see people playing right into his hands. Oh, well, maybe he'll try harder next time.

hehe he said Hostel was symbolic? how gay. that's why i never follow mainstream shit and interviews. i'll watch a movie, when it's over it's over. the end. i don't give a rat's ass what the director or writer has to say about his "art".if anything i only care about "funny" stories related to running out of $ and improvising or permit dodging. anything else is just ego crap. i liked both Hostels but considering what he has to work with he should be doing better.

I have no problem with him. But......I do think its funny that he is getting all this recognition for regurgitating ideas we all know from the past, but without being so wet and gory...........
Thanksgiving would be cool. I think he should make it. You can never have enough slasher flicks...especially if they're nice and gory!

Eli Roth is a fucking dupe along with Tarantino. I watched Kaufmans "Make your Own Damn movie" and Roth was on there talking about how independent his fucking films are. This is bullshit. and Tarantinos "grindhouse" film? Again bullshit. I cant believe he had the balls to call this grindhouse- Grindhouse releasing co. was right to say that he's an idiot.

Yeah, bringing up Toolbox Murders again, I liked Tobe's flick too. Especially the deleted scenes that they should have put back in for the DVD release dammit, they were gory as hell. But the original stands on its own as an all-time horror classic. I have the song from the original on a CD somewhere hahahaha, pretty lady! Love that scene.
As far as Eli goes, he makes better films than Mr. Zombie...talk about weak.

I don't give a fuck what anyone says, Roth is kick ass and always will be in my mind, it actually disturbs me that fellow horror fans would put him down when he's pretty much brought back the great gore effects that were done in the 80's, Cabin Fever was a tribute to those gore movies from the 80's, he even said it was in an interview. Roth is one of my idols and he has helped bring back the horror industry to what it used to be, no cgi effects and pure fucking horror magic!
