Writer-director Bryan Bertino has been coaxed back by distributors Rogue to write the sequel although it's unclear if he'll direct. Variety has reported that Liv Tyler is "expected" to return. Give that the first film made more than $50 million, they should be able to afford her. The film will likely begin shooting early next year.

One of the reasons why I didn't see the first one is because they took the pussy way out and fucked up the ending. They did it for the very purpose of making a sequel.
Fucking pathetic and it will always piss me off.

I thought the first one was good. Nothing amazing, it had potential to be a hell of a lot more than it was, but it was good. It would be interesting to see how they put a sequel together, maybe they'll actually take chances on this one and generate something us horror fans would consider suspense. I probably won't see it in theaters if it makes it there, it's very rare that I actually spend money to see a sequel.

Well, you can't complain really.
The Strangers was so weak. The characters were not developed at all, and you don't even have to mention the ending.
Therefore, it'll take a second movie to do any kind of justice for the story. And so I'd love to see a well developed sequel of this movie, and have my fingers crossed for something mind blowing.

I haven't even seen The Strangers, and don't plan to any time soon. I'm quite happy with Them (Ils) the movie The Strangers ripped off.

This is a little off topic but last night I went to a midnight showing of Rocky Horror and I dressed up as Ghoul and this chick thought I was from The Strangers. Dumb bitch.
