The sorority-house slasher movie THE SLEEPER (which we first told you about here), has wrapped shooting, and a trailer is now ready for viewing. You can give it a look, along with an exclusive behind-the-scenes photo and comments about the film and the release of its creators’ previous feature DEATH STOP HOLOCAUST, after the jump.

THE SLEEPER is set the Alpha Gamma Theta sorority house, where the girls are stalked, tormented and slaughtered by a mysterious maniac. “Postproduction is going great,” director Justin Russell tells Fango, “and we’re set for a late May premiere. I am extremely happy with the results, as it looks and feels like a lost ’80s slasher film. I know it won’t disappoint the period fans.

“I have been working a lot on the soundtrack, giving it its own personality,” he continues. “Hopefully it will come across the same way Jason’s ‘ki-ki-ki-ma-ma-ma’ sounds do. When you hear certain tones in the background, you’ll know the killer is right around the corner!”

We must be getting close to some kind of release, for there is now some very cool retro artwork being released on the web:

I'd like to see the top on as the DVD cover and the bottom one as an insert.

Hopefully this is better than the shitty 80s throwbacks Troma's distributing nowadays. Hopefully there is also minimum to no CGI.

THE SLEEPER will premiere Saturday, July 9 at 11 p.m. at Columbus, OH’s Grandview Theatre (1247 Grandview Avenue). Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Someone here NEEDS to get down there and see this and report back.

http://www.gammaknifefilms.com/2011/10/sleeper-gets-face-lift-gremlin-music.html

In preparation for the release of the DVD of 'The Sleeper,' a new look is being given to the film. A fresh color grade is in progress and Gamma Knife Films hopes to have 'The Sleeper' out by end of December or early January 2012 on DVD, Amazon VOD, iTunes VOD, Family Video & Netflix. Stay tuned.

Also, the music of the films by Gremlin will soon be available for download on Amazon. The music from Death Stop Holocaust & The Sleeper will hopefully be made available before Halloween.

I really want to see this.  I wonder if I can get a screener.  I'll be sure to report back if I do.

I got the same vibe from this trailer as I did with "House of the Devil", which is a good thing. I definitely want the DVD/VHS combo.

On a side note, I'm glad that it seems more and more horror movies are going back to the kick ass vintage cover/poster designs that got me into horror as a kid. Every time I'd go to a rental store, the first place I'd go is the horror section to check out all the cool cover art.
