RIP David Carradine

Like  everybody else was I was very sad to here that David Carradine died, but the mystery surrounding his death is weird.

ABC News said:

"Actor David Carradine was found dead in the closet of a Bangkok hotel room Thursday with a cord wrapped around his neck and genitals, leading Thai police to suspect his death was not a suicide but an accident resulting from dangerous sex practices."

And a source told Fox News that Carradine was broke but still doesn't think it was a suicide:


“David had been trying to make some fast cash doing personal appearances and things,” said the source. “It was a rough year for him, and he was a big spender and always in debt, but he wouldn’t have killed himself over finances. He wouldn’t have hung himself, that was too much effort. His ego would never have let him do that.”

One of the reasons David Carradine's reps and family smell foul play is because people are saying the hotel has been slow at turning over evidence to cops in Thailand.

We're told the family has been getting calls from Thailand saying the hotel where Carradine's body was found has been slow on the uptake in handing over hotel surveillance video to cops.

Chuck Binder, Carradine's manager, tells us he firmly believes Carradine did not take his own life -- nor does he think David died accidentally. Binder says the family has been told Carradine's hands were immobilized by the rope.


UPDATE FROM TMZ:  We've been told by the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok that David's body was shipped back to the States Friday evening (Thailand is 14 hours ahead of PST).

"I don't believe he would have killed himself. Even though he was a very complicated man he was so at peace with himself. He did so many good things and really wanted to do more things, he told me his career was just really starting and new," Ling said. "You can see thru his eyes he is a complicated but funny person - he spent 20 years mainly doing independent films which I think made him have a lot of interesting thoughts in his head. But he really was someone who was full of life."

The New York Post is declaring Carradine's death an accident due to naked-fun-games:





David Carradine died during a sex game that went wrong, according to sources in Bangkok, Thailand, where he was found dead on Thursday.

Carradine's body was discovered in a hotel suite and local reports suggested he committed suicide.

He was discovered by a maid, naked and hanged, but the suggestions that his death had a sexual twist were strongly disputed by the star's close friend, attorney Vicki Roberts, and his manager Chuck Binder, who insisted he died of natural causes.

But a statement from Carradine's representative now indicates the actor died during a sex act.

The spokesperson tells TMZ.com, ""We can confirm 100 percent that he never would have committed suicide. It was an accidental death. Everybody is in shock.""

Rumors that Carradine died attempting autoerotic asphyxiation -- where victims achieve heightened sexual pleasure by restricting their air supply -- are backed up by a quote a Bangkok police officer gave to British newspaper The Sun.

The cop tells reporters, ""A rope was attached to his neck and also to his penis.""

Rocker Michael Hutchence was rumored to have died attempting the same sex act in a Sydney, Australia, hotel room back in 1997 -- although his death was officially declared a suicide.

Carradine was in Thailand to shoot new movie Stretch. He was 72.

UPDATE: They say "The show must go on" -- and in the case of the movie David Carradine was shooting in Bangkok, producers have already started to rewrite the script.

TMZ just spoke with Charles Gillibert, a producer on "Stretch," who told us David still had a few critical scenes left to shoot when he passed away Thursday morning.

Gillibert says everyone on the set is devastated by David's death, but producers still have a job to do -- and are working hard to change the storyline to accommodate David's absence.

Gillibert wanted us to know David was in wonderful spirits before his death, was in great shape and had been joking around with everyone working on the film.

There is only one day left of shooting -- which Gillibert says everyone is very eager to complete and put behind them.

Poor Carradine was a freak read the part in bold.

"Kung Fu" actor David Carradine's family has asked the FBI to investigate his mysterious death in Thailand.
Relatives don't believe Carradine - found naked in a Bangkok hotel closet with a rope tied to his neck, wrist and genitals - committed suicide.

"They want an investigation," said Mark Geragos, lawyer for Keith Carradine, brother of the "Kill Bill" star.
"I would think that the people in Bangkok would want to support an investigation and allow the FBI to go over there and assist in the investigation so we can get the answers to the questions."
Thai police said Saturday they have not been contacted by the FBI.

An autopsy was completed Friday, but results aren't expected for weeks.

Carradine's body was flown out of Bangkok early Saturday on a United Airlines flight bound for Los Angeles via Tokyo.

There is speculation the 72-year-old actor died during an act of auto-erotic asphyxiation in which the rope was used to heighten sexual pleasure.

His ex-wife claimed in court papers that he was a fan of "potentially deadly" kinky sex acts.
Marina Anderson's 2003 filing - which also claimed Carradine and a close relative shared an incestuous relationship - was uncovered by TheSmokingGun.com.

In Los Angeles Superior Court documents, Anderson claimed Carradine groped her in public and encouraged her to flash strangers by pulling off her top.

He also enjoyed the company of "people of questionable character," the court papers continued.
"It was the continuation of abhorant and deviant sexual behavior which was potentially deadly," Anderson's filing said.

In addition, Carradine's "deviate behavior includes an incestuous relationship with a very close family member, which permeated our marriage," she wrote.

Anderson said their four-year marriage left her suffering posttraumatic stress disorder, like a soldier returning from a combat zone. Her filing was supposed to be sealed, but was mistakenly placed with public court documents,
