I told her about CODE RED and she's still intent on releasing HER version next March. So, by the looks of it, we're gonna have two versions to choose from. CODE RED is basically re-releasing the Elite transfer, don't know what extras he'll include.

This makes her looks like such an ass. She ran that entire campaign and had people donate money and there is a version coming out already! I'm guessing there are two camps on this one, people who just want the movie on dvd and people who want a Blu-ray with extra features. If she doesn't deliver Blu-ray she is a fool, but Code Red is known for saying they have the rights to a movie when they don't really have them. I can't wait to see this one play out.

She's saying that CODE RED never had the rights to RITUALS, but they released it anyway. So, if CODE RED is in the same boat with POPCORN, it won't matter, they'll put it out anyway, and next March, hopefully, she'll put out the version I'll want to get, the remastered extras filled blu-ray. I'm actually hoping she pulls this off. It IS going to be one of those wait-and-see-what-happens, since both sides are already claiming victory.

Yeah that's what I heard about Code Red. That's why it takes them so long to release stuff. They announce something and wait to see if anyone contacts them and complains, if no one does,  they release it. I don't now how true that is, but what she's saying does seem to fit with what I heard. I'm guessing if she wants to stop them she would have to sue them, and that would take another campaign to raise money.

It's going to be interesting if they do to release it to watch her try to rally her friends against it. Her best bet would be to just keep quiet and release her version. If I were  a normal horror fan and was waiting for a Popcorn DVD I would probably ignore the person complaining and go with the more established distributer.

I don't look at that way. I'm going with the person who can give me the best looking transfer, and it looks like it'll be that chick, if she pulls it off.

Well of course, so would I. I'm just saying if I didn't know who she was, and Code Red released Popcorn on DVD, and she was running around saying she will have a better version, I just might not believe her and go with the company I know and trust. Who knows, she could be talking out of her ass and you pass on the Code Red version and never see her version.

Either way this is still fun. Like with most horror movies I'm sure Popcorn has a small following, but its not the type of movie that deserves this kind of treatment. Its like watching two people fight over scraps.

Yeah, it is kind of stupid. Well, everything was fine until CODE RED tried to steal her thunder. Anyhow, both releases come out at different times. Grab RED's and then grab her's in March. If I got the cash, I WILL do this.

At first this campaign started as "WE NEED TO GET POPCORN ON DVD FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO BUY CHEAP!" and now it's "BUY OUR COPY BECAUSE WE HAVE THE RIGHTS AND WE'RE WORKING ON A SEPERATE DOCUMENTARY!"

I understand her's is most likely going to be in better quality, but the bitch is flip floppin like a teeter totter over this shit. If she was a true fan she shouldn't really give a shit as long as it comes out. In fact, she'd probably sell more copies if she would've worked with the prick from Code Red. I also get a feeling her DVD will cost more and the Blu-Ray will be like $30. Someone else should've ran her campaign as she turned it from flawed fan project to a clusterfuck in shit creek.

I already own a region 2 dvd of it so quality isn't a problem, I'll most likely be buying Code Red's release.

Yeah, I still find it crazy that a not in-demand horror flick from the 90s is in the middle of a DVD war. I really lost faith in horror fans after they paid $50 for a documentary and signed poster. I guess it would cost you more to get those autographs at a convention, but I'm also amazed that people will pay $20 for a washed-up actor's autograph too. I guess Fatty was correct, there are two kinds of horror fans, dumb ones and smart ones.

In the next few days we will be releasing a blog talking about Code Red's ILLEGAL release of Popcorn. Legal proceedings take time, but we need you to help get the word out asap. Boycott Code Red's ILLEGAL release of Popcorn.

This gets better and better:

http://codereddvdblog.blogspot.com/2011/09/code-red-gets-audio-commentary-with.html

CODE RED GETS AN AUDIO COMMENTARY WITH DIRECTOR MARK HERRIER FOR THE UPCOMING DVD RELEASE OF "POPCORN"

Mark Herrier was kind enough to drop by to give us a very informative audio commentary that answers many of the behind-the-scenes questions regarding POPCORN. Mark explained everything about Bob Clark's involvement in the production and why Clark didn't want any billing credit on the finished film. Mark also explained that the Bob Clark who was billed on the film as a make-up guy was coincidentally just someone else with the same name (!) Finally, Mark goes into detail about the troubled production and how he ended up directing about 70% of the film, with Alan Ormsby having directed about 15% and Clark directing 15%. The day Mark arrived on the set to take over the directing reigns, he was simply handed the script with basically no time to prepare before he had to start shooting. Lots of great trivia and behind-the-scenes details were revealed in this very frank commentary that shines new light on a very-troubled production. POPCORN has definitely found its way into many horror film fans' hearts and has become a cult classic regardless of its problematic production issues. Now genre fans can finally hear the raw truth about the creation of one of their most beloved horror films and see how all the pieces finally came together. POPCORN is coming back soon. Buy a bag...come home in a box! Stay tuned for more updates...

Just got off the phone with [the director], he had no idea that Code Red doesn't own the rights. Funny the one person I couldn't find originally but luckily now I have spoken to him, all thanks to Jeffrey Combs Smiley long story haha

Yea I saw both of those. I'm inclined to believe her, but I really don't give a shit at this point. If I buy it, it'll be Code Red's. If I ever upgrade to BRay, and she keeps her word, then I'll buy hers too.
