Phantasm V?

I just watched all four Phantasm flicks not that long ago. Coscarelli really needs to let the thing rest in peace. OblIVion was about as good of a send off as they are going to get. Everyone involved is too OLD!!!

A remake on the other hand is inevitable. But it will be another remake that doesn't make any money. None of the Phantasm flicks ever made any money, so it's not like a remake would be a blockbuster. It would come and go. There's really no point., except for the fact it would still make some money on dvd because of the title.

I LOVE Phantasm by the way, not trying to sound like a hater. But I really hope they just let it go.

I love it to and I basically said the same thing you did on the main page. The Phantasm series would not do well updated. It also doesn't need a sequel. People need to let the series go and move on.

If they did a sequel we'd all be good little fanboys and watch it.

But, it could be interesting if they took it more in the direction of the Tall Man's backstory. They show a little about where he comes from so I think that could be cool. Except I guess that would make it a prequel...my bad.

Background stories are never any good, and wasn't part IV supposed to show us that already?

There will be another.  Don isn't gonna leave it hangin' like that.  It took about 10 years for part 2 to come out after the first, and that movie is equally as good as the original... so give it time.  I think the 4th installment was a bit weak because it was made a lot quicker, but if the cliffhanger ending works with the next movie...it'll be worth the wait.

Well from that story we broke on HYB about the new project, it sounded like it is going to be some lame Internet series or some shit. I would really rather them leave the series alone than have it end like that.

No one could do this right.. but a finale would be so awesome.  Fucking... the kid becomes the new tallman or something.  Whatever.  Just end the shit.  You guys are pretty much right on just leaving it alone, but it's so fucking unfinished right now, I'd like to see the story wrapped up.  You know.. before everyone dies.

The remake issue with Phantasm is dead last I heard.  Don was in talks with New Line for a Phantasm trilogy, but backed out of it because he realized that they would make it suck instead of making it be good. 

The death of Phantasm: 1999 is one of the great tragedies of horror cinema.
