Could it be? I sure hope so!!! http://www.horroryearbook.com/2007/03/26/more-phantasm-news/I love this series, I grew up with it. I remember watching it and waiting for the next sequel when I was growing up, and wondering if their would be a sequel! Those damn cliffhanger endings had me thinking all was lost. BUT NO! Anyways they need to hurry up and make this before Angus Scrimm dies.

I wouldn't mind seeing this at all. I'm also glad a remake is off the table right now acording to Coscarelii (or however you spell it).

Me too. Of course, Don was going to be involved with it, and it was going to be the Star Wars of horror. But New Line wasn't gong to do it right so he said fuck it. I can't wait for this, I hope it happens.
And I really wish Phantasm 1999 had happened.

In pt 4 it seemed like mike was turning into the tall man .he had the killer spheres in his eyes and they never went any where with it . that would have been sweet.

Dood.. so I got pumped when I saw this thread, and then I realized Brando just posted in a super old thread. Thanks for nothing, Brando.

I want Phantasm II on dvd! Fuck Universal! They have the rights and they won't sell it to Anchor Bay or release it themselves. It's collecting dust. You think they would at least put out a bare bones dvd at some point.
I do NOT want Phantasm V though. Everyone invloved is too old now. It just wouldn't work. A remake (or re-imagining, or reboot or whatever) would be better. The concept is great, a talented writer and director could do good things with it,

Far as I'm concerned the Phantasm movies are the fucking Lord Of The Rings of horror movies. Coscarellis created this whole goddamn universe, the dwarves, the spheres the goddamn Tall Man...BRILLIANT shit, tottally original, creative beyond belief.
Everyone is DAMN old, but I sure would love to see them finish it regardless....part 4 was iffy..it had it's moments but it's like they mostly took old footage out a vault and dusted it off. I want a REAL finish damn it, even if Scrimm is in a goddamn wheelchair. It only seems right that they finish it off with a bang instead of a whimper.
Phantasm 2 is an amazing piece of work. The four barrelled shotgun, that hemicuda roaring across the desert roads, the chainsaw battle, it really just doesn't get any better than that, and yeah, it's a shame it's not on DVD yet. It's one of my favorite flicks ever.

I love the Phantasm flicks because they are true originals. My favorite is the first one. That is a flick I have watched countless times over the years and I never get tired of.
At one point years ago there was talk of Roger Avary writing a new Phantasm flick that would have had the Tallman ruling victorious over a post-apocalyptic Earth and Mike, Reg and a band of survivors trying to stop him once and for all. That would have been great, but apparently it was too big of a concept to pull off.

Yup, I remember reading all of it, wasn't Bruce Campbell involved in that one?

I think he was going to be one of the stars, and that also explains how Campbell & Coscarelli crossed paths for the first time.

I'd watch a part 5 for sure. This is another one of those movie that I feel if they tried to remake it it would be a disaster. Robert Englund is Freddy and Angus Scrimm is Tall Man. There's nothing you can do about it and to change that in any way, shape, or form is ridiculous.
