Adam Green’s Hatchet II will be distributed in theaters without an MPAA rating beginning Oct. 1, 2010 — marking it as the widest release of an unrated genre film in more than 25 years. Green said, “Having a movie as graphically over the top as Hatchet II come out in major theatres unrated is an absolute dream come true — not only for the genre fans but for the entire make-up effects crew who normally have to watch their amazing achievements get sliced and diced for theatrical release. This is an important event for the horror genre and I hope the real horror fans support Hatchet II and help change the way genre films are released theatrically from this day forward. Kudos to Dark Sky Films and AMC theaters for truly honoring the spirit of old school American horror and doing this right. Gorehounds won’t know what hit them!” Hatchet II picks up right where the 2007 original film ends, as Marybeth (Danielle Harris from Rob Zombie’s Halloween) escapes from the clutches of the deformed, swamp-dwelling killer Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder). Marybeth returns to the Louisiana swamps along with an army of hunters to recover the bodies of her family and exact her revenge against Victor Crowley.

I hope to catch this one in the theater. I know Wil is gonna be the first in line since he thinks Adam Green is one of the best new directors out there.

He did a good job with the first Hatchet and Spiral. I've chatted with him before, and from that and various interviews I've seen and read, he seems like a guy with a genuine love for horror flicks.

I actually loved Hatchet. Maybe it didn't seem like an 80's movie, but it definitely have the black comedy atmosphere of a lot of the 80's slasher movies had (well, except for movies like The Prowler or something... more in the SLAUGHTERHOUSE vein) And, it actually had an intimidating villain, cool death scenes, and very little (seemingly) CGI gore effects. I think it's a great movie.

I thought you were one of the ones who did not care for it! LIAR! Hahahaha Naaah I dug it from the get go. I was very entertained throughout. Hatchet and Behind The Mask are 2 current horror flicks that I really like a lot. Much better than anything Rob Zombie or Eli Roth (with exception of Cabin Fever) have released. I'm most definitely ready for a Behind The Mask sequel too!
