I have avoided the news on this on purpose until something is worth printing but guess we should have a thread on it.

I had a good idea for the remake, or at least I thought so...

*SIGH*
Not yet another one...

I'd rather see a Jason X2 or a Pt.11

I was all for a prequel but I am not down with the remake of F13th because I already know it will be stupid. I know everything afterall.

I hope you all know I was being sarcastic about knowing everything. I don't want to come across smartassy.

That's ok ya smartass haha
Yea a remake is just not a good idea but it'll most likely happen anyway just like all the other remakes. I'm not really into the idea of a Prequel either cause I personally don't care about the backstories for my favorite slasher killers. Made them more mysterious and frightening in my mind. Leatherface is ruined for me because of the remake and how he was an abused child, yadda yadda. I don't buy it. I don't want to feel sorry for these maniacs. I want em to kill!

I know that if they did a Friday prequel, it would be all about how Jason got picked on as a kid for being a mongoloid etc.. and for that I just don't care. I like it better knowing he's an unstoppable super zombie that just wants to kill for the death of his mom and that's all the backstory I need.

I just wanted a prequel to support my ''Jason was always dead/a zombie'' theory. I had over a twenty page debate over that once online. It was awesome.

Thanks for letting me be a smartass but I wasn't trying to be one.

see at least your theory sits with me better than anything Hollywood would ever come up with. Sounds like a fun debate though cause myself, I'm not sure if he was dead from the beginning. Seems to me anyway that he officially died in Pt.4 and resurrected in Pt.6 (pt.5 doesn't count as a Jason flick to me) but I won't hold back on the thought that he died back when he drowned as a kid and has been a zombie ever since cause it does seem to me that he decays more and more with each movie.

Well thanks. I believe he really did drown as a child.

My theory is, had he not drown and had he been living in the woods like so many people believe -- he would have reunited with his mother.
She was stalking all around those woods, killing counselors in them and had he been living in those woods they would have run into each other at some point. Why would he hide out from his own mommy? Makes no sense.

I mean, why would he stay so nearby as she killed to actually watch her get beheaded then supposedly care about her so much to start killing everyone a Crystal Lake out of revenge YET  he didn't love her enough to go up to her while she was alive and say. "Look mommy, I didn't drown!" ...
Not sure if that came out clearly.

makes sense to me and is a good theory BUT, here's a thought I have is that she knew he was still alive but kept him hidden from society in that shed we see in pt.2 and then was crazy enough to turn something into a maybe near death to a complete death just to get revenge on the people who shunned her son because of him being a mongoloid. I dunno, just a ballpark thought but with the Friday series, I don't rule anything out.

Maybe Jason really was dead at the bottom of the lake and after she beheaded his ma he came alive to seek revenge.  I think this makes more sense as to why he kills all teens rather than just camp counsellors.  Maybe as a kid he just assumed they're all little shits that need to be 'taught a lesson'.  That's the thing about leaving out just enough details, we can each take from it what we will and work with it in our imaginations.  It seems to be something modern movies screw up, because they can't help themselves and give us way too much info.

Oh well, I am with CoffinRock. A prequel is better. Why a remake? We already know the big twist. DUH!

Sean S. Cunningham's just a little a bitch who got insanly lucky on the original, then bought the rights back from Paramount after the 8th film. i wish he would just die.

A Potassium IV push will kill anybody...  just a little tid bit of information.

Madman, that is also a really good theory!! I've actually never heard anyone say that before.

I still like the idea of him actualling being dead though. Creeps me the hell out to think that mean fucker is living under the water. I hate lakes and oceans - not because of Jason but because of all of the 'unknowns' down there! WOOOOOWEEEEWOOOOOOO!

Amen Molly!
