Horror Yearbook has been taking a second look at the Women in Prison genre in our The Lost Art of Women in Prison Filmmaking section, but we never thought we would ever see it on TV.
Robert Rodriguez is shopping around a television show called Women In Chains. Horrormovies.ca reports that the series will feature; “”Sadistic Guards, Cafeteria Hosedowns, Mud Wrestling, and Violent Vendettas,” and that Rose McGowan will star.
Hopefully this is destined for cable TV and not network television because a women in prison show would be lame censored. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
In 1974 Lina Romay started her career with Rites of Frankenstein, and appeared in her last movie Angel of Death 2 in 2007. In between she gave us sex and vampires in 1973’s Female Vampire, went to South America in Ilsa The Wicked Warden, appeared with Klaus Kinski in the excellent 1976 Jack the Ripper, and was directed by Jess Franco in Tender Flesh in 1997.

Here is a list I compiled of as many Women in Prison films that I could find. Included are any exploitive films that include women in prison, mental wards, reform schools, that have plenty of violence, gratuitous nudity, horrific situations, rape, or torture.

They don’t come much better than Reform School Girls (literally or figuratively). Where Deported Women of the SS Special Section takes the cake for being dark and brutal, Reform School puts the fun and sexy back into the WIP genre. With its scores of hot girls, rocking music, and all-star cast, it is definitely one Women in Prison film you don’t want to miss.

This is one of those foreign films with like 600 titles. Not quite a women in prison film, but close enough. This time our captive gals are 100% innocent, their only crime being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It’s been a long time since I visited the women in prison genre and this week it’s not an old film that marks my return, but rather a new film titled WEREWOLF IN A WOMEN’S PRISON. WEREWOLF is a Grade A - B-movie, not overly silly like the poorly done Shock-O-Rama “PRISON-A-GO-GO.” WEREWOLF manages to deliver all the wonderful WIP clichés with an added werewolf twist….

t seems like we have a winner here folks. I have finally found a classic Women in Prison feature that includes all the important criteria for any WIP film. I’m talking lesbian rape, male on male rape, crotch shaving, torture and more! I should have known it would take the Nazis to get it right!
I guess the art of women in prison filmmaking is not 100% dead. Check out “Werewolf in a Womens Prison” trailer, and wait until you see the one prisoner ripped in two, it’s worth it.

I was looking for the trailer of Salvage (2006) to tie into Tyler Shainline’s review but came across this trailer instead. I figured it would be a great video for our “The Lost Art of Women in Prison Filmmaking.” Enjoy!

Like I said “Chained Heat” takes place in the future, but it’s one of those futures where everything has reverted back to, as my white trash sister would say; “Little House on the Prairie Days”. No computers, no electricity for anyone other than the evil dicatator of Hell Mountain, Stryker. Of course they have all that stuff with the mandatory motorcycles, however, because it is written somewhere that the only thing that will survive the end of the world are roaches and motorcycles.

On Friday, Sept 10th at superior court central Prague, Karen Lotsky was sentenced to 8 years at Rasik Penitentiary for the possession of an unspecified quantity of narcotics…Though there were numerous indications that the prosecution had fabricated evidence nothing was ever done about it..

What is hotter then a bunch of bad, bad, bad women all locked away in a prison together? Nothing, that’s what! The women in prison movie is pure genius. The person who came up with this idea deserves to be knighted. Mass shower scenes, sweet lesbian love, brutal lesbian love and more lesbian love. What more could you ask for?
