The Horror Homo is back after a sabbatical and move across country, and I’m ready to drudge through the gayest that horror has to offer. In this installment, we will be talking about Skull and Bones. This film has an awesome premise and style, but is totally mudged up by lack of budget and acting ability. On paper, a mix of Herschell Gordon Lewis and John Waters taking on Natural Born Killers sounds mighty awesome, too bad it didn’t work out that way.
Nathan & Justin are two gay Community College students who think they are little too punk for their own good. They spend their leisure time banging each other, and talking about how they would like to rape and kill the ivy-league douche bags, who they think are holding them back. It seems they are closely based on the two Columbine homo’s as well. They decide to invite a jock whom they hate back to their apartment for some “drinks”. After getting him drunk and having sex with him, they accidentally kill him with some anesthetic that one of them stole from the Vet where he works. Not satisfied with the way that things turned out, they devise a better plan.

Last month we talked about a “gay horror” film, a film either made by a gay director and/or a film marketed at a gay audience. As I said before, I don’t feel an affinity towards said genre, I feel there is no need. Especially when there are so many queer moments in mainstream horror and slasher films. Some of the moments are fleeting, and exist mainly in the minds of gay horror lovers, reaching for an obvious or even subtle moment in the films that they worship. In some cases these moments are so blatant they leave you scratching your head wondering what flaming homo made this film? This month, I present some of my favorite gay moments in horror and slasher cineama, some subtle and some blatant (in no particular order).

As a gay horror fanatic, I personally don’t see any need to have a “gay horror” subgenre. But I guess there are other mo’s out there that wanna see twinks parading around in jock-straps rather the usual buxom horror beauties. I’m sure that most horror-heads out there have heard of, if not seen, a David Decoteau film. While it seems to be the consensus that his film’s are usually horrible, no one can argue that he is primarily responsible for the Homoerotic Horror subgenre. Most of these fims are tamer, sexual wise, than most would expect, although there are exceptions, like Cannibal or Otto: Or Up With Dead People. I suppose only the most open-minded horror-head would actually venture to watch one of these films. So now you have me, The Horror Homo, to wade through the dreck. To let you know which ones are actually watchable, which ones are safe for straight viewing, and which ones make you want to bust out the assless chaps!
