CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST (2-disc special edition rerelease): Grindhouse

Banned and heavily censored throughout the world, here is a film that surpasses its reputation as a shotgun blast to the senses. CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST presents the lost footage of four documentary filmmakers who experience brutal death at the hands of a savage South American tribe of flesh-eaters. The footage is so intense, so graphic, and so unflinching in its realism that the director and producers were arrested on its original release and the film was seized.

This long awaited rerelease of the Grindhouse Releasing definitive DVD version of Ruggero Deodato’s masterwork ranks with the most highly anticipated and sought after DVD releases in the history of the medium. Not for the weak of stomach, the film’s horrifying power cannot be denied.

New Friday the 13th Boxset Details

The Friday the 13th Blog got some details about the new Friday the 13th DVD set from Paramount.

“The studio will only be re-issuing the first three films to tie in with the new movie. There will, however, be new extras. No word on any uncut or 3-D versions of the films.”

So once again Paramount drops the ball on delivering a full-kick-ass boxset, and looks to cash in a little more on the movie franchise they love to hate. However as the blog points out, maybe only releasing three movies will allow them to take a little more time and care on them, hopefully giving us better extras.

One of the best made for TV horror movies, Dark Night of the Scarecrow (See Our Top Ten Made for TV Horror Movies List) is finally getting a DVD release! HMF Radio broke the news that writer, J.D. Feigelson is currently working on the DVD to be released in 2009.

Dark Night of the Scarecrow is one of the most elusive horror movies on VHS, costing up to $50 online, or at horror movie conventions. This is probably the second most exciting horror DVD news of 2008, since it was announced that Pieces was getting a proper DVD release.

The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior DVD Info

The original Scorpion King gave me hopes and dreams that The Rock would become our next great action hero, but like Vin Diesel and Ice Cube those dreams where dashed when they were all scooped up by the family movie gods. Now the Scorpion King franchise has been sent to the video store shelves, the same place The Mummyfranchise probably belongs.
