Dimension Extreme has been pumped out some great direct to DVD horror films so far, and I love killer animal movies, so their new film Rogue has me very excited. Directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) and stars Michael Vartan (Alias, Monster-in-Law), Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill, Man on Fire), Sam Worthington (Somersault, Dirty Deeds) and John Jarrat (Wolf Creek). Check out some great action stills below.
Synopsis:
An Australian wildlife tour becomes a bloodbath when their boat strays into the domain of a massive, man-eating crocodile. Stuck on a shrinking parcel of land, the survivors plot a dangerous escape as the croc moves in for another feast.

I think almost every fan gave up on Return to Sleepaway Camp, but SleepAwaCampFilms.com says it is finally coming to DVD on October 14th. What has been the holdup? The creators of RSC say they wanted to shoot more and better FX so they hired, Peter Gerner and Brian Spears for the job. They shot 14 scenes and 78 extra shots. Here are what they are saying about the film:

On October 28th, Grind House Releasing is giving the slasher gem Pieces the proper DVD release it has always deserved.

PIECES is a wild, unrated gorefest, with enough splatter and sleaze to shock the most jaded horror fan.

Gory greetings horroryearbook alumni! The next several weeks are looking bleak as far as Brain Hammer approved horror dvd releases are concerned. Since I won’t be posting a weekly DVD PICKS column for a while I thought this would be a good time to put together a list of 30 horror dvds that are all tentatively scheduled for release sometime in the not too distant future. LET THE BLOODSHED BEGIN!!!

There are hundreds of horror films that deserve an Ultimate Collector’s Edition, but I didn’t think Will Smith’s I Am Legend was one of them. The picture from IGN.com (after the jump), shows a HUGE box set for one film. What they have to shove in there is beyond me, maybe it will have pasties and a drinking game like the Showgirls (VIP Limited Edition)

Fred Olen Ray is currently working on a film called Recoil, starring Luke Perry, I shit you not. However, in better Olen Ray news his best film; Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers is getting a 20th Anniversary Edition DVD release. The reason “special” may have been left out of the title, is because it doesn’t seem to have any special features, but the movie is not readily available on DVD anyway. You can pay up to $70 for it on Amazon, and it is not available on Netflix. So any DVD release is welcome.

This is kind of cool and I wish more companies did something like this. Sony is releasing the Hammer films’ The Gorgon, Scream of Fear, The Two Faces of Dr. Jeckyll and Curse of the Mummy’s Tomb on DVD. They are letting the fans vote on what cover art to use here. If more companies did this we wouldn’t be stuck with some of the crappy, modern DVD art they slap on classic horror movie DVDs these days.
You can pre-order the set HERE
Also as a bonus if you are sick and tired of the shitty Friday the 13th DVD covers, you can go here and print out the original covers to replace them!

They have been talking about this Wizard of Gore remake starring Crispin Glover, Bijou Phillips, Jeffrey Combs and Brad Dourif for what seems like forever now, and it is finally getting a DVD release, on August 19th via Dimension Extreme. The problem is, Dimension forgot to take the stupid Suicide Girls gimmick off the cover. While I’m normally opposed to remakes, this one doesn’t seem so bad. Tim Sullivan’s 2001 Maniacs was a fun, updated, homage to Herschell Gordon Lewis’ film, however Jeremy Kasten’s update of Gordon’s 1970 classic, just seems lame with the “Featuring Suicide Girls” slapped all over it. It seems like a sleazy ploy HYB would employ, and just makes the movie seem lame. Anyway the DVD special features are listed after the jump.
