Saw VI and VII writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton talked to MakingOf.com about their latest film The Collector. Check out the video below!
The Collector is a horror/thriller that follows handyman and ex-con Arkin who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked “Collector” in a maze of lethal invention – the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg – while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob.

Rebecca Murray caught up with Twilight star Kellan Lutz (See sexy shirtless pictures of Lutz here. Come on you know you want to!) at the 2009 MTV Music awards.
Lutz talks about wrapping up his scenes in New Moon and filming A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 (Skip to the 1:33 mark to avoid the Twilight talk) . The funny part is he doesn’t seem to know much about the NOES franchise, and makes me wonder if he has actually seen any of the films at all.
All we seem to be talking about these last few weeks are True Blood and Drag Me To Hell, but there is such a huge buzz surrounding Sam Raimi’s new film it is almost impossible not to get wrapped-up in all the hype. Also my fear that Drag Me would be a flop now seems unwarranted, as it is looking more like it may be a surprise hit of the summer.
Below you can check out a video interview with director Sam Raimi and a new picture from the film. Also be sure to enter our two Drag Me To Hell contests before the movie’s release on May 29, 2009.
Synopsis:
Director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy, Evil Dead series) returns to the horror genre with Drag Me to Hell, an original tale of a young woman’s desperate quest to break an evil curse.
Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) is an ambitious L.A. loan officer with a charming boyfriend, professor Clay Dalton (Justin Long). Life is good until the mysterious Mrs. Ganush (Lorna Raver) arrives at the bank to beg for an extension on her home loan. Should Christine follow her instincts and give the old woman a break? Or should she deny the extension to impress her boss, Mr. Jacks (David Paymer), and get a leg-up on a promotion? Christine fatefully chooses the latter, shaming Mrs. Ganush and dispossessing her of her home.

Where most rappers celebrate the urban lifestyle with the same old themes and the same old image, Twiztid peel away the gloss and expose the innards…with an oversized butcher knife! They take the hard edge of theatrical rock-and-roll and temper it with gritty hip-hop to create a musical monstrosity so dangerously real it must be hidden with facepaint. Brain Hammer was the only horroryearbook writer with the GUTS to do an exclusive interview with Jamie Madrox of Twiztid.

Horroryearbook alumni should already be familiar with Ryan Nicholson. He’s an award winning make up artist, writer, director, and all around sick bastard. With over 100 makeup credits to his name and 4 films under his belt as a director, Ryan has become a force to be reckoned with in the extreme horror genre. His latest effort GUTTERBALLS was not only Brain Hammer approved, it also earned a well deserved spot on the horroryearbook top ten list for 2008! I recently had the chance to ask Ryan all about his love of horror and his many projects past and present.

Owner and visionary behind Ghoul-Girls.com, Candace Miller was brave enough to visit Horror Yearbook not once, but twice. First she took on a very inebriated WIL Keiper live on HYB Radio, then stopped by to chat with Morgan Suzek about horror movies and her Ghoul Girls on HorrorYearbook.com.

My Name is Bruce is his second directorial outing after the critically panned The Man with the Screaming Brain. But no worries. Bruce has come back with a more entertaining ride and is slipping back into his former Evil Dead clothing. Well, sort of. Bruce plays himself, the actor who played Ash from the Evil Dead series, who becomes a real life hero when he is asked to protect a small town from an unleashed demon.

Director Jay Lee sat down with our own Tyler Shainline to explain how an artsy, independent filmmaker interested in exploring existentialism came to make a horror flick entitled Zombie Strippers. Sure it was to finally make money off a film, but there was more to it than just the payday, there’s a message hidden behind those big fake tits covered in blood, a message of girl power!

David Heavener has played everything from a mentally unstable Viet Nam vet to a Ragin’ Cajun (in what else? Ragin’ Cajun!) to a down on his luck baseball player, yet the idea of Heavener donning a priest’s collar somehow still comes as a shock. Most people know this rugged actor as the dude kicking major boo-tae through various 90s indie action films (Kill Crazy, Kill or Be Killed, Twisted Fate). However, you might not be aware that he is behind the camera almost as often as he is in front of it. Much like Tom Laughlin (Billy Jack), Heavener figures the only way you’ll get something done the way you want is to do it yourself. In the last two decades, he has starred in-directed-produced-written over ten films. What is the key to his poly-hyphenated lifestyle? The modest filmmaker admits, “It is easy when you have good people around you, which is what I have. I love to act the most.” His latest creation, Confessions of an Exorcist started out just like all the others, but as things began to develop Heavener found that there just might be a home for an episodic series based on exorcisms. I tend to agree.

My Bloody Valentine 3D hasn’t even been released yet and they are already talking possible sequel! Director Patrick Lussier must feel confident that his 3-D “re-imagining” of the 1981 classic is that great. Lussier recently talked to our good friend Eric over at BloodyGoodHorror.com, about the film, and his hopes in dealing with the MPAA:

Over the past month or so I’ve been working on my first writing assignment for HorrorYearBook. I was extremely honored to have this opportunity, but it’s been no easy task. It started as a simple e-mail interview but then it turned into one of the biggest hassles of my writing career. Coming up with the questions wasn’t very hard, but waiting on a response tempted suicide. It wasn’t until after I got a response, however, that I realized how tight the noose really was.

Over the past twenty years Director and Screenwriter Stuart Gordon’s name has become synonymous with cosmic horror author H.P. Lovecraft. While Gordon has been involved with no less than four Lovecraft projects over the years he also wrote the story for “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” and created guilty pleasures like “Robot Jox” and “Space Truckers.” More recently though Gordon has found himself branching out and crafting tales based less upon supernatural horror but more the horrific actions one human being will do to another. This is best shown in Gordon’s most recent film “Stuck” that’s not only his best film since “Re-Animator” but one of the best films of the year.
