Have a Thirst for Tru Blood?

Talk about your marketing strategies and products. Here we have a drinkable product inspired by the hit vampire HBO series True Blood. And if you haven’t given your educated guess by now (either by the title of this story or by the obvious in general) that the drink is blood. Well, not actually blood because that would be creepy, gross and probably illegal but it is a 14oz bottle of “blood orange flavored soda.” Yeah – doesn’t that get your thirst buds going.

The exact replica from the product of the series will be available for purchase on September 28, however; you can pre-order a 4 pack right now at the HBO store for $19 not including the shipping. If you want some sort of review on the taste of Tru Blood, the website gives a small description of it being slight tart, yet lightly sweet with a hint of carbonation. So, if you’re planning an extravagant Halloween party or if you and your friends are into having a blood sucking party, you can be one of the first to pass around a bottle of Tru Blood and be all schnazzy.

Pabst Blue Ribbon Movie Marathon

This is an idea I’ve had ever since I first saw John Water’s Pink Flamingoes back when I was 21, broke and drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon beer; A “Pabst Blue Ribbon Movie Marathon” sponsored by PBR at my favorite local bar. Even though I am opposed to those second run movie theaters who serve pizza and beer, some of my most memorable horror movie watching moments have been at bars; I saw a bootleg 3-D showing of Friday the 13: Part 3 while I drank whiskey and ate calamari in Philadelphia. I snuck in my own booze to a bar in San Francisco to see Street Trash and yet some of my favorite movie viewing nights were laying on the floor while me and few friends got drunk and watched a variety of horror gems.
