Update (3-30-11)

Regular HYB readers know that I suffer from a rare blood clotting disorder that I do not properly take care of. While visiting my mother for her birthday I slipped and twisted my right leg causing a few new clots to form. This caused me to be bed ridden for almost two weeks. I was in so much pain and on so many medications it was impossible for me to manage our various blogs including Horror Yearbook. Since I’m the only person who has access to the sites, the other writers were not able to post their reviews or articles. This is the reason why we haven’t had any updates since March 18.

I’m fine, and alive but I’m still recovering. I plan to take it easy the next few days before fully returning to work on Monday, April 4th. Thanks to everyone who stuck with us during our downtime, and those of you who were concerned about my well being.

Clint Howard Goes Down The Road With Victor Miller

Check out the new teaser trailer for the slasher film, Down the Road, starring genre vet Clint Howard. Directed by newcomer Jason Christopher, the script was “mentored” by Friday the 13th writer Victor Miller.

The movie follows Jenn, who is forced into a camping trip after being released from the hospital. Jenn and her friends start disappearing in the woods as they try to survive the wrath of a true mad man.

Dracula To Star in First Porn Parody

Axel Braun joins Tod Browning and Francis Ford Coppola as one of the many directors to retell the legend of Dracula in Hustler’s This Ain’t Dracula XXX 3D.

“It’s going to be a masterpiece,” said Drew Rosenfeld, Creative Director for Hustler Video. “We’re not just making porn anymore. With the introduction of our new 3D camera, bigger budgets, and the overwhelmingly large caliber of theatrically talented performers, we’re discovering that we have the ability for not just pornography, but sensual and erotic filmmaking.”

Scares That Care

Hey guys, a few days ago I reviewed Zombie Doomsday. Last night, I got an email from the director, Tom Townsend, who asked me to let you guys know about Scares That Care. It’s a non-profit that sends money, toys & other items to sick children. It’s founder is horror director Joe Ripple and its roots are stuck right in the heart (pun intended) of the horror community. Tom is donating part of his sales from the Zombie Doomsday DVDs to the organization. So buy an awesome movie and help a great cause!

Movie Review: The Absent (2011)

The best part of The Absent is the very beginning, which is more of a backstory than anything else. It shows two greedy parents who conspire to kill their own son so they can benefit off the insurance money. This sounds crazy enough, but watching them put this plan in to action is pretty entertaining. Even better, their son is no dummy. He knows what they’re doing.

DVD Review: Zombie Doomsday

Imagine I called you today and said “I’ve got an idea for a movie. It has no script, we have two weeks of pre-production and we’ll shoot the whole thing in 24 hours.” Now imagine you went along with it. That was how director Tom Townsend pitched Zombie Doomsday. A horror film shot in one day at one location with all the dialogue being improvisational. We are left with a one of a kind film that should stand as one of the indie greats.

The World’s First Jewish Horror Film? Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride

I used to have all these awesome trailers for Haunted Hay Ride uploaded to YouTube, but then the buttholes deleted my account, and now they’re all gone… Stupid YouTube!

The Haunted Hay Ride films are written and directed by Warren F. Disbrow. The slasher known as Hate “began his career by murdering his sadistic police officer father and dismembering him,” explains Disbrow. “He then drilled holes in his own head with an electric drill and bolted a gleaming skull Halloween mask to his face, permanently erasing who he was as a human being. He then went on a savage killing spree that ended up at a Halloween Farm’s Haunted Hay Ride where he began butchering both the farm workers and the customers. In that first film Hate is still almost human, though we did give him a creepy inhuman voice. In Hate’s Haunted Slay Ride, Hate has a metamorphosis into a full blown satanic creature and as his blood lust grows and he becomes more spiritually evil, he starts targeting and murdering Christians and Jews.”

Free Zombie Flash Games: Carveola Incident and Decay TD

I may have five blogs to manage and a new writing job that started this week, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have time to play video games. I discovered two new zombie flash games today, one is a World War I shooter that reminds me a little of The Last Stand 2, and the other is a tower defense game. In the Carveola Incident, you must defend your barricade against an onslaught of zombies. You can hire more troops to help you kill the reliving, buy upgrades and order artillery strikes. There are six different types of men to choose from, and various weapons you can unlock.

New Topless Poster For What They Say

Based on a short story by Heather Dorff, and adapted into a short film by our very own Kelsey Zukowski, What The Say is a dark drama about a wealthy privileged, honor student with her whole life mapped out… Or so they thought! What they didn’t know was what lied inside of her; pain and anguish; tearing at her until there was nothing left. Lost and alone, the young women (Dorff), finds solace in the form of a glistening blade, splitting her skin deeply. Her obnoxious sister (Kelsey Zukowski) and her self-indulgent mother are completely oblivious to her inner-turmoil. She has long since become numb to the world around her, getting that sensual release as the razor cuts deeper, watching the blood drip is all that matters. As soon as the last drop falls, the calm is stripped away from her with it. How far will she go to silence the hunger that now consumes her? Will she be able to regain control of her life, body, and sanity?

Rob Zombie Inducts Alice Cooper Into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Rob zombie inducted Alice Cooper into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday night. Zombie said “Cooper invented the rock show. Before Alice Cooper, there was no rock show.” Cooper was one of the first artists to mix horror and heavy metal, he also played Freddy Krueger’s father in Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare and appeared in John Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness.

Troma Releases Lost Charlie Sheen Film!

He may be the biggest celebrity car wreck in recent memory, but Charlie Sheen is big news and everyone is trying to cash in on his name! From Hustler’s porn parody, This Ain’t Two and a Half Men, to every talk show and late night TV show, you can’t avoid the Warlock, and now Lloyd Kaufman and Troma are getting in on the act. In 1989, Charlie Sheen wrote a poem, and for some unknown reason a film was produced based on this poem. Troma has found and released a teaser trailer for, A Tale of Two Sisters, on it’s YouTube page. Check out the bizarre footage below.
