Nothing is safe when it comes to Hustler’s This Ain’t XXX parody series. With the success of its recently released Avatar 3D porn, Hustler Video is in the process of preparing for its next big 3D film: This Ain’t Ghostbusters XXX 3D.
Hustler was nice enough to send me a copy of This Ain’t Avatar XXX 3D, and I can honestly say it is the best porn flick of 2010. I’m very excited to see what they do with the Ghostbusters franchise.
Movie Review: Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010)
Published by November 29th, 2010 in MOVIE REVIEWS (ALL) and Movie Reviews NEW (2000 & Up). 0 CommentsIt’s been a horrible year for horror films. Nothing but remakes, bad sequels and more waste of your time “indy” garbage, but thankfully there is a light at the end of the tunnel. This December horror fans will want to finish 2010 on a positive note with, Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. It may not be a full-blown horror flick like Silent Night, Deadly Night, but I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Love him or hate him, at least Eli Roth is helping the horror genre by producing new films and supporting upstart filmmakers. Or maybe he’s just pulling a Wes Craven and slapping his name on any piece of crap that comes his way.
Roth’s newest producing project is Clown, about a man who becomes consumed by an evil clown costume. The film is being directed by newcomer Jon Watts, based on a fake trailer he and a colleague put together.
Short Film Review: The Films of Patrick Rea
Published by November 29th, 2010 in MOVIE REVIEWS (ALL) and Movie Reviews NEW (2000 & Up). 0 CommentsWriter/Director, Patrick Rea, had a number of his most recent horror shorts shown at Dark Carnival Film Festival last week in Bloomington, Indiana. Rea was recognized with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the festival. Having a few of his shorts show at the New York Horror Film Festival as well, Rea and his production company, SenoReality Pictures, have shown dedication to the craft and have proved they have the potential to make suspenseful, dark films with substance.
Another tragic loss is added to our Celebrity Death List for 2010 in actor Leslie Nielsen. He died Sunday at 5:34pm in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, with his wife at his side. He was most famous for playing Lt. Frank Drebin in the Naked Gun movies.
So why is a comedic actor’s obituary on HYB? Before he went all comedy, the Candian-born Nielsen was a dramatic actor and was featured in the sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet. He was also in the 1972 disaster film The Poseidon Adventure. But most notably to genre fans was his 1980 role in the original and still classic Prom Night as Mr. Hammond, the school principal and father to Jamie Lee Curtis’ character.
Brain Damage Films is having a Black Friday sale. Everything is 20% off all weekend long. The Traces of Death box set is only $89.60 (normally $112.00), Monsturd is $7.99, and Sci-Fi High: The Movie Musical is only $11.99.
Thanksgiving — That special time of year when we’re all BORED OUT OF OUR MINDS! Sitting around waiting for a dinner that takes all day to prepare, so we can scarf it down in 2 minutes. What fun!
My suggestion on how to wash the holiday blues away — Get drunk and watch hours of bad Thanksgiving TV specials on YouTube. I’ll start you off with a special Thanksgiving on Melmac!
DVD Review: Shadowland (2010)
Published by November 24th, 2010 in MOVIE REVIEWS (ALL) and Movie Reviews NEW (2000 & Up). 0 CommentsLet’s face it. Vampires have been done to death, no pun intended. We could sit here for days and discuss sub-genres in the vampire community. With all of these movies becoming so popular, especially with the teen crowd, it’s hard to pin point a refreshing take on the lore in the last fifteen years. That’s why I was relieved to see Shadowland. A bold vision that puts vampires back where they belong; as the tragic hero(ine). Caitlin McIntosh is Laura, a young woman at the turn of the century who has fallen in love with Lazarus (Carlos Antonio Leon). Lazarus is a vampire and wishes to make Laura his eternal bride. She is turned, but very shortly after is buried alive by a priest. Accidentaly unearthed in present day, she has no memory of who she is, where she is or what she has become. As she is putting the pieces back together, a vampire hunter named Julian (Jason Contini) begins tracking her on behalf of the church.
