Kids in Horror Films :: The Best of 2007

Here is Kindertrauma.com’s Kids in Horror Films :: The Best of 2007 Check out Horror Yearbook’s Top Ten Horror Movies of 2007 Here.

“You know we love to talk about the movies that scared you as a kid, but don’t forget that here at KINDERTRAUMA we’ve got our eyes peeled for kids in horror films in general, and 2007 brought a fine bounty of critters who face horrific obstacles and/or are horrific obstacles themselves. Here is our list of favorites from 2007. Please let us know in the comments if there are any that we forgot!”

The Slaughter (2006) The Playground Movie Reviews

Oh look, it’s another group of hot teens in yet another haunted/possessed house! And check it out, the group dynamics are the same as every other movie; a sensible couple, a jock, a whore, a stoner and a nerdy guy! This has GOT to be good.

Video Interview With Victor Miller (Friday the 13th)

Welcome to our second VIDEO interview! First we crashed FearZone.com’s interview with Todd Farmer (Watch Here). Then our sexy Molly Celaschi hunted down the man who created horror legend Jason Voorhees, the wonderful Victor Miller riding segways of all things (see picture). So watch as Molly and Victor talk Sean S. Cunningham, the Friday the 13th remake and Hayden Panettiere!

Oxford University Press Releases Original Sweeney Todd

Not something we would probably normally cover, but their PR called us “one of the premier Horror sites on the internet,” they really know how to butter a guy up. However some of you may be interested in knowing that Oxford University Press has recently published the original tale of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Automaton Transfusion on DVD

This is the little zombie flick that could, and it should of made part 3 of our Year in Review: The Best Alternative, Overlooked and Unappreciated Horror Films of 2007, but unfortunately I was only able to see it in pieces at San Francisco’s Another Hole in the Head film festival, and what I saw looked good. It has also managed to receive a lot of buzz from the horror community.

Death Race 3000

Horror-Movies.ca just published the first picture of Death Race, Universal’s remake of the 1975 classic Death Race 2000 which starred Sylvester Stallone. The synopsis (read below) sounds way different than the original but at least they included the driver Frankenstein. I hope they do not leave out Machine Gun Joe Viterbo, Calamity Jane and the nudity from the first.Unfortunately it seems they may have left out the best part, killing citizens for points to win the race. This better be a kick-ass film if they want to makeup for that little faux pas.

Lonely Joe Features Our Favorite Ass

Emmemax Films sent us information about two of their upcoming films The Mirrors of Longreach Mansion and Lonely Joe, a supernatural thriller based on true events that took place in South Texas about 20 years ago. If you head on over to the Lonely Joe website here and scroll down, you will notice Matthew S. Harrison aka Matthew Pletcher who was awarded our “Biggest Dick of 2007″ honors (Read Here. Matthew is the “producer” of Death Walks the Streets and has threatened to sue Horror Yearbook and have me arrested (Read Here). I feel bad that he has left his stink on Emmemax’s movie.

First look at UK Horror Comedy The Cottage

Twitchfilm got their hands on some pictures from the new horror comedy The Cottage. You may see them after the jump.

Brain Hammer’s PICKS FROM THE CRYPT Vol. 26: Don’t get caught ALIVE!

Gory greetings horroryearbook alumni! Ever since “28 Days Later” and the running zombies of the “Dawn Of The Dead” remake came on the scene there’s been a raging debate as to what is a zombie and what isn’t. I look at it like this: if it isn’t a walking corpse – it isn’t a zombie. Speaking of zombies, this week’s PICKS FROM THE CRYPT are a terrible trio of hardcore horror favorites from 1980 that are often mislabeled as zombie flicks despite the fact that there are no living dead in any of them. Prepare yourself for a walking, living nightmare and LET THE BLOODSHED BEGIN!!!

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) Movie Review

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem has a built in audience. I cannot say I am disappointed by the finished product. My cynical nature expects these kinds of results. Sure, the R-rated mayhem is better than the first film, much better, but nothing to write home about in the end.

Dexter on CBS?

I caught this in my ET Weekly, in the ew.com poll section. CBS is thinking, and I said thinking of airing an edited version of Dexter if the writer strike continues. It worked with Sex and the City, and I think that may have been a little racier than Dexter. So what does this mean? If you cannot afford Showtime and cannot afford to rent or buy the DVDs, you are one broke ass bitch, who may be able to finally watch Dexter on regular TV. Start praying for that strike to last.

Top Ten Horror Movies of 2007

Well here it is our first and maybe last top ten horror movies of the year list. I realized something about top ten lists; they are a lot of fun when someone else picks them. Since this was such a major pain in the ass, and our original motto at HYB (even though we are far removed from our original vision) was to leave no horror film behind, this is actually part two of three of our “Year in Review.” Part one was our in-depth look at the film careers of Eli Roth and Rob Zombie. (Read LEADERS OF THE SPLAT: An examination of the films and careers of Rob Zombie and Eli Roth Here).
