Anchor Bay Films announced today the acquisition of all North American distribution rights to director/writer Richard Bates, Jr.’s debut feature film. Excision is the story of Pauline (McCord), a delusional teenage outcast. Pauline picks scabs. Pauline dissects road kill. Pauline fantasizes about performing surgery on strangers. Her fascinations disturb her schoolmates and her parents, Phyllis (Lords) and Bob (Roger Bart). No one understands Pauline except for Grace (Ariel Winter), her younger sister who suffers from cystic fibrosis. An outcast at school and at home, Pauline is convinced that the best way to repair her estranged relationship with her family is to perform a risky operation to save her sister’s life.

The movie also stars John Waters, who directed Lords in Cry Baby, Malcolm McDowell, Jeremy Sumpter and Marlee Matlin.

I’m not sure what qualifies someone as a “scream queen,” but if the criteria is appearing in four or five horror films, Meagan Good could be considered one. The thing I like about Good is she has starred in a variety of different genres. She was in the action flicks Biker Boyz and D.E.B.S.. She appeared in the dancing movie You Got Served, the comedy The Cookout, the teenaged film noir Brick and of course the horror films Venom, One Missed Call, Saw V and The Unborn. That’s a pretty impressive resume if you ask me! Plus she is adding fantasy to her long list of credits with the D&D flick, The Book of Vile Darkness.

Good appeared on last night’s episode of Californication where she had the honor of banging Fox Mulder (or at least that’s what it looks like from these pictures I stole). No nudity, but a few bikini shots!

I kind of feel bad about posting this since we’re currently under siege by 8-to-10 year olds fighting over who will be the family wizard on Wizards of Waverly Place, but we haven’t had a Hot Babe of the Week in a long time.

Katrina Bowden is this month’s Maxim (February 2012 issue) covergirl. I’m not sure what John Gulager has in store for Piranha 3DD, but Kelly Brook’s topless underwater scene is going to be very hard to top.

Bowden is the newest Piranha 3DD babe, and she’s also starred in Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Check out her Maxim spread below, and remember Horror Yearbook is the only place that brings you the hottest horror babes… And 8-year-olds fighting over wizards, but lets not talk about that.

Asking the team behind the over the top Feast franchise to write and direct Piranha 2 was a bad idea that resulted in the loss of a lot of fans.

Piranha 3D wasn’t a box office smash, so alienating a big part of its fan base probably wasn’t the smartest move. I assume the point of a sequel is to get the fans of the original to return to theaters, not to send them away screaming. And that’s exactly what Dimension did when they announced Gulager and his Project Greenlight cohorts would be helming the ship.

Casting the movie as if it were a VH1 reality TV show probably didn’t help much either. David Hasselhoff jokes stopped being funny years ago, and Gary Busey is only funny when Meat Loaf is yelling at him. If stunt casting and stealing Rose McGowan’s machine gun leg is all Gulager and team had to offer, it’s no wonder why Dimension yanked Piranha 3DD from its planned November 2011 theatrical release.

Dimension’s decision could’ve also been helped by the disappointing $8 million opening of Shark Night 3D a few months earlier. If a PG-13 killer fish movie bombed in theaters, it was probably safe to assume that an R-rated killer fish movie wouldn’t have performed much better. Then there was the mixed reaction to the crappy looking Piranha 3DD trailer. If fans of the original didn’t jump ship when the creative team was announced, they sure did when the trailer was launched. It was painfully obvious that the sequel was going to be filled with a nauseating amount of wink at the camera moments, and bad one-liners.

Movies like Hatchet and Feast may have a dedicated following, but it’s a small one. You don’t have to look any further than Hatchet II’s theater flop to know there isn’t enough fans to warrant a wide release. Feast is the type of movie people watch because they forgot to bump it down on their Netflix queue. It’s not the type of movie people pay 10 dollars or more to see in a movie theater.

Horror comedies are normally failed experiments that result in shitfest like Hatchet II, or whatever crap Tim Sullivan is farting out these days. Piranha 3D is a rare case of horror and comedy done well, and it was surprisingly met with critical acclaim. It was foolish of Dimension to believe they could recreate Alexandre Aja’s success a second time with a team of filmmakers known for taking things too far.

Piranha 3DD is headed straight to DVD because that is where it belongs.

Elves has never been released on DVD. So unless you own the VHS or DVDr the only way to watch it is on YouTube. Thanks to Shock Cinemaify for uploading this hard to find gem on the interwebs!

Shark Night 3D drops the “3D” for its DVD and Blu-ray release on January 3. The DVD includes a jump to your favorite death scene feature called Shark Attack Kill Machine. The Blu-ray includes a behind the scenes featurette and a digital copy of the film.

The moment Sara (Paxton) and her friends arrive at her parent’s Louisiana lake house, the party is in full gear. Everyone is having a blast until Malik (Sinqua Walls) loses his arm in what initially appears to be a tragic wake-boarding mishap. Studio Canal has announced Blu-ray releases for John Gilling’s The Reptile (1966) and The Plague of the Zombies (1966), and Terence Fisher’s Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966).

Special features and other specs have not been announced. All three films will be available on February 27th.

Harry George Spalding and his wife Valerie arrive in a small village in Cornwall to take up residence in the small cottage left to them in Harry’s brother’s will, after his untimely, and unattributed death a few weeks earlier. It soon becomes clear that something is very wrong in the village, and with some help from “Mad” Peter (John Laurie), and Tom the barman (Michael Ripper), Harry discovers the evil presence behind the mysterious Dr. Franklyn (Noel Willman) and his daughter.

The Plague of the Zombies

Respected doctor Sir James Forbes (André Morell) is called to remote Cornwall with his daughter Sylvia (Diane Clare) to help local practitioner Peter Tompson (Brook Williams) deal with an outbreak of sudden illnesses. The superstitious locals have forbidden autopies, and the two doctors are soon caught opening the grave of a recent victim by local constable Swift (Michael Ripper). When the grave is found empty, Swift agrees to help get to the bottom of the mystery, but not before Sylvia sees the body of Peter’s wife Alice (Jacqueline Pearce) being carried by a horrid ghoul near an abandoned tin mine. Dracula: Prince of Darkness

First Sequel to the Hammer Studios version of the Dracula Legend teaming Christopher Lee as the Count and his arch enemy Peter Cushing as the famous Vampire hunter Van Helsing. In this installment the count is brought back from the dead after his destruction in the original film. Dracula proceeds to pick up where he left off by terrorizing the people visiting his castle where ultimately good and evil again clash.
