Everything that needs to be said about ‘Evil Aliens’ has already been said:
“It had me clapping my hands in childlike glee!” JoBlo.com
“A Must See!” Horrorchannel.com
“Fantastic Fun!” Twitch.com
and they go on and on and on..So what can we add to all this? How about…
“ONE OF THE TOP TEN HORROR/SCI-FI FILMS YOU WILL SEE THIS YEAR!”
Heres a good one…
The fact of the matter is it’s hard to review ‘Evil Aliens’ because all you want to use is one word exclamations. Words such as: “cool,” “raunchy,” “ non-stop thrill ride” (a popular one , but very true). It’s just what you want from a film of this nature. There’s enough sleaze to fill 3 John Water’s films, and enough gore to make any gore hound happy (not to mention one of the best anal probes ever put on film.)
The story? Simple reporter Michelle Fox’s TV show “Weird Worlde” is looking to boost ratings . In an effort to do so, she drags her crew of misfits, S&M porn stars , and UFO nerds to Wales for the story of the year. There, in a small farming town, there have been reports of alien impregnations, abductions and rapes. (GREAT! Oops, sorry did it again.) The “Weird Worlde” crew sets out interviewing the victims, recreating the events, faking some crop circles, blowing lines of coke and having sex. Soon enough, however, the real aliens actually show up and everyone starts dying in some of the best and over the top kill scenes since ‘Bad Taste’. That’s it. No complex character studies. No social commentary on current politics. Just 93 minutes of sex, gore, and sleaze as the human race battles it out with some evil aliens. This film has everything for the true horror fan: chainsaws, shotguns, flying saucers, alien boobs, weed whackers, decapitations, arms being ripped off, flying alien fetuses, and even dead alien dogs,. Shall I go on?
Director Jake West (‘Razor Blade Smile’) has propelled himself to the top of the horror genre with this one film. If this is any indication of the rest of his career, we will be talking about him for years to come. 2006 gave us a lot of great movies, especially from the UK (Creep, The Decent) and with ‘Evil Aliens’ coming to DVD on January 9th it looks like 2007 is not going to be much different. This film is going to be the horror movie to beat and that is going to be very hard.
Try to catch ‘Evil Aliens’ on the big screen before 2007. See if The Invasion comes to your town.
