Normally the only good thing about remakes is the special edition DVD releases of the original films, that normally follow them… However, A Nightmare on Elm Street has already had too many “special editions” released (The Nightmare on Elm Street Collection, A Nightmare on Elm Street: Infinifilm Edition
) and most horror fans (including myself) already own multiple copies of the films. So do we really need a new box set?
In addition to the previously announced Elm Street Blu-ray, Warner Home Video and New Line plan to reissue the original box set, containing all the original films plus Freddy vs Jason on April 6, 2010.
Perhaps they are hoping that younger fans will catch “Freddy mania” once the Platinum Dunes’ remake hits theaters on April 30th, but I’m willing to bet that most older horror fans are going to pass on this repackaged fuckery.
