I’m sure Dee Snider is a great guy. Who doesn’t love Twisted Sister? I’m also sure his radio show on Fangoria radio is a lot of fun, but one thing I wish he would spare us from, is a sequel to his 1998 film Strangeland. Snider would be doing the horror genre a favor by just sticking to his day job, talking about horror films, and not making them.
According to News Net 5 (via Shock Till You Drop), Strangeland 2: Disciple is “one of three projects approved to shoot in Ohio using the state’s Film Tax Credit. Nehst Studios, based out of Cleveland, is overseeing the production,” and they need to start filming in 90 days to take advantage of the tax break.
No director has been announced and the film’s IMDB page has Snider writing the script and reprising his role as Captain Howdy. It also lists Robert Englund as “rumored” to be attached… Basically Strangeland 2′s future is unknown to me, but signs are pointing to a possibility that it is being made. One would think Snider would use his radio show to promote the film, so perhaps an announcement is coming soon… Too bad I don’t listen to or own a Sirius Radio.
The synopsis reads; Captain Howdy has survived his horrific burns sustained several years ago, and is back to his torturous ways, and even has a new group of sadistic followers who have formed “The Torture Garden”.
