Resident Evil: Afterlife in 2011? (UPDATED)

Actress Milla Jovovich provided an update about the rumored push of Resident Evil: Afterlife from August 27, 2010 to January 14, 2011 via her Twitter.

“RE Afterlife IS NOT officially pushed. There have been talks of pushing it as they [are] not sure they can have it ready by July. We [are] trying as hard as we can to still meet the summer deadline though, so for the moment its still on for August.”

However, Shock Till You Drop reported that even after Jovovich’s announcement their sources claim that Screen Gems still plans to move the release date of the film. The studio is worried that the 3D post-production may take longer than they originally planned and they may replace Resident Evil 4 with the comic book-based vampire thriller Priest on the August 27.

We will keep you updated.

UPDATE: The film has been moved according to Shock Till You Drop:

“Looks like yesterday’s report was dead-on, in spite of what actress Milla Jovovich said.

Resident Evil: Afterlife is now being released in theaters on January 14, 2011. That’s according to a release schedule we’ve received from Screen Gems.”
