No matter how much horror fans hate it there is only one thing that matters today, the Twilight Saga: New Moon sequel is in theaters!!!! YAY!!! OMG!!!
Stephenie Meyer’s vampire soap opera has already broken Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’s advance sales record on MovieTickets.com’s list of the Top-10 Advance Ticket Sellers of All-Time, and will most likely break a few more box office records before its run is over.
We already know what the fans of the series probably think about New Moon, but how are the critics scoring Chris Weitz’s chapter in the Twilight movie franchise? Trailer Addict’s Condensed Criticism overall rating is a “C”, and Rottentomatoes.com “top critics” rating is averaging 37%. However, RT users have given the movie a 67% approval rating proving that the fans and critics don’t always see eye-to-eye. Its up to you who you want to believe.
Here are some of the best quotes about the film:
Rotten Tomatoes Overall Consensus: The Twilight Saga’s second installment may satisfy hardcore fans of the series, but outsiders are likely to be turned off by its slow pace, relentlessly downcast tone, and excessive length.
“All three lovers are so joyless, it’s hard to imagine why any of them would want to spend eternity together.” — David Germain Associated Press
“I can’t comment on the acting because I didn’t catch Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner doing any. They basically primp and pose through the same humdrum motions they did before.” — Peter Travers
Rolling Stone magazine
“While most film series have weak second installments I found New Moon to be better than the original.” — Atomic Popcorn
“If you see this, see it with beer or with promise of sex afterward. Just don’t let her lather up your dong in body glitter…” Ain’t He Fat News
“Constrained by the plot of the novel, the film keeps the two lovers apart for quite a spell, robbing the project of the crazy-in-love energy that made Twilight, the first entry in the series, such a guilty pleasure.” — Kenneth Turan Los Angeles Times
“The stakes are higher and the intensity deeper this time, despite a plot that approaches the ripest of melodrama – and which occasionally provokes unintended laughter, as does the terribly tween soundtrack.” — Peter Howell Toronto Star
“Though an improvement over the first Twilight film, this sequel drags and sputters, even in scenes meant to be infused with passion.” –Claudia Puig USA Today
Check back this weekend for Horror Yearbook’s Kelsey Zukowski’s review.

This movie blows. Basically the only people who watch this garbage are losers who have to live vicariously as a vampire because they hate their lives so much. Vampires are dumb, so is this movie, and everyone says it sucks except for the hardcore fans who would just as likely give raving reviews if they filmed a turd for 1.5 hours and called it “Twilight: Turdfest Extravaganza”.
Look Slut…we HAVE lives and LOOOOOVE them! The Twilight books are a good series, thats why we are fans idiot! If you HAD a life you wouldnt be spending time bashing stuff you don’t like dumb fuck!(PS your mom called.Tell her i don’t want to fuck her)
Peter? I swear as I was reading that I assumed you were a 13 year old girl, then I read the last line. I told my mom that you don’t want to fuck her and she was disappointed. However, I then mentioned that you were busy watching some teenie bopper movie and she was relieved. At least now she knows you don’t want to fuck her because your either gay or have very tiny wang. My mom even said it’s probably a good thing because she said it would be hard not to laugh or mention how cute it is when you drop your pants. It sounds like the fact that you like the same things as a 12 year old girl saved you a lot of embarassment.
Clearly based on Peter\’s movie preferences he doesnt want to fuck Diane\’s mom, he wants to fuck Diane\’s dad. Nuff said.
i think all of us are entitled to an opinion. there are persons who like twilight and persons who don’t. me, i’m a twilight fan. a big one. i think new moon is going to be amazing. the same for eclipse and breaking dawn. still, even if i love this books and movies i do not have something with those who don’t have the same opinion as i do. i don’t see the point in arguing or being rude using impolite words. let’s be humans and respect eachother.
about the critics all i can say it’s that we, the fans(-believe me we are thousands) don’t care about it. think about it this way. they are like 20 critics and some people that don’t like this series. well you can’t beat us. we are the ones who decide if the movie is bad or not. it’s up to us. the rest doesn’t matter. it’s democracy so live with it. the majority wins;)
Well said Gia!!!!! I’m a mother of two beautiful children and like the movie for its love triangle! Who wouldn’t want to wonderful guys or ladies lusting after him or her!! If you look at the reason for the love in the story and not the characters supernatural features, it would just be a magical love story and thats why people read these books!! I LOVE THE TWILIGHT SAGA!!!
Im excited to see the movie. Im taking my daughter in a few hours. Yeah its kinda teeny bopper. But i think its something fun for all ages. Adults can kinda look back and see parts of themselfs and kids enjoy it as well. Ive read all the books and now am reading them with my eight year old who loves them just as much. Its nice to have something to bond over.
i love these books and im not a big fan but i do enjoy reading them. anyways for all those haters whom dont have nothing else to do, but to hate grow up and enjoy all the fans because we are not going anywhere!! why dont you just cut yourself or talk about real serious shit to hate on. wow i think i wasted my TIME on you bitches asses. got to go PEACE!
get over yourselves you retarded asses the twilight saga is awesome it is fine if you don’t like it but just don’t go off swearing like a crazy hobo okay go get a life because if you can’t find something else better to do then go talk crap about new moon. then i don’t know what you can do just think about it if you made a movie or wrote a book and people gave you shit about it what would you do so if you can’t enjoy what is given to you then don’t but just as long as you don’t get all pissed like a boy shitting in their pants. tooooddoooolooooooooooo assssssshole
Love the books! Going to watch new moon tomorrow
I\’m not paying attention to the critics. I\’m not a huge fan of Kristen or rob but I love the characters and will support allfuture twilgth saga films!!! I don\’t get way people have to act so childish about a movie ? If u don\’t like it oh well. You dot have to talk shit about the people who enjoy things you don\’t.
I loved the movie! I feel they could have done a better job with getting into the depth of the relationship, love and secrets instead of jumping along but I guess the movie would have been longer. If you havent read the books, like someone I went with, it can be hard to know exactly what is going on so I suggest you read them before or after.
Saw this film yesterday. It sucked…No justice to the books. It was slow and tedious to watch in parts. Though the scene’s with the Volturi was amazing. The fight was the best part. The ending just dragged on and on though. It really dissapointed me. Im going to go watch it again next week because I cant decided if I like it or hate it as much as i do right now.
Seen this movie last night!! i think it was pretty good, better than the first, but no where as near as good as the books! I don’t see why people start fighting over something so trivial with people they dont even know!! Anyway i would go see it, the only downfall was the acting, mainly because I thought there wasnt as much passion as I thought there should be. anyway, it was enjoyable!! XxXx
The whole twilight “thing” is such a waste of time. Vampires in love. Personally Stephanie Meyers is not a very good writer she drags on everything that involves Bella and her feelings and with RobertP … clearly unattractive the only good thing he has is his eyes… Also the movies are retarded…Everything that they do is so motionless, like the acting is bad. God bless anyone who likes it its cool whatever be obsessed, I personally I think its a waste… And for the turds that are going to reply saying that if its a waste why am I saying anything or try to make some humourous comeback …Dont… may opinion and overall I think twilight is a cult and quite stupid.
I was a twilight fan and have read all the books, however, overall the movie new moon disappointed me greatly. I felt there needed to be more passion during Bella amd Edward’s reunion and more joy experienced by Bella with the promise of Jacob’s undying devotion. In my opinion, RPattz made Edward a cold and callous jerk not at all endearing and sensitive- he sucked the love and intensity and infatuation for bella out of Stephenie’s character. Unfortunately, they also put too much make-up on him making him extremely unattractive. In terms of appearances I believe Jacob stole the show- and this coming from an Edward fan haha. I waited for a long time to see this movie, and although I wasn’t a completely obsessed fan to begin with I was indeed a loyal fan- now I’m not so sure. I think from this point on and its just a theory- that the audience dynamic has changed being composed more so of pre-teens and moms. Which sucks- this series is not a harry potter gimic its an outlet for emotional lovesick, soul wandering teenagers like my friends and who quite enjoy an alternative romantic date film to a plotless romantic comedy with zero originality and cheesy lines.
I’ve been a big fan of the saga for over a year and didn’t like the first film. It was too much of an indie film, what with the blue film. The special affects were badly done and the acting was horrible. Yes, it’s something good to obsess over for awhile, but when the second film is horrid, too, that’s a bad sign.
The acting was horrible and the only thing that made it enjoyable were the parts of Jasper and Alice and Rosalie. The other actors were just horrible. Kristen’s voice is way to monotonous and she has no facial expressions at all. Rob, however, has talent, just not in the movies and that pisses me off especially. Truthfully, if anyone of them will grow out of the series, will be Nikki Reed and Rob Pattinson and Ashley Greene.
Nikki will direct and write more movies, seeing as she’s done an excellent job with Thirteen when she was a kid. And now that she has many movies in the production she’ll be writing and directing, she could make something of herself.
And Kristen, please just spare us and get out of the industry. Your horrible!
I have not read the books only seen the movies. I saw new moon last night and agree the acting was very poor. Kristen was expressionless which made her character boring and irritating. Story line wasnt too bad and I think it sets up for an intreging third movie.
i am a huge twilight fan and i was sooooo hype for this movie. I waited almost a damn year for New Moon and when i saw it it was nothing but dissapointment. The movie was too rushed but at the same time too slow. And oh my goodness that damn scene when kristen is sitting in front of the window for months pissed me off it was so uncreative. Jacob was the only reason to watch the movie he was bangn wordup. But Rob was really scary and ugly looking. The acting was very cheesy and the lines were wack. All the kissing scenes were not passionate they were more gross and akward than anything. Hopefully they get they shit together for the 3rd movie ** oh yeah and why did they put the proposal in this movie???? the director F*d up big time!!!
The movie needs to stop with all the cheesy stuff. Twilight if made into a not so teeny bopper movie could be a hit with everybody. I don’t like Twilight and I don’t mind that other people like it, but only if they would stop with all of the slow motion hair in the wind, I love you but we cant be (exit-slow motion vampire fly away), I think I could get into the saga. Hopefully the 3rd movie is dark, fast and tells a real story of a battle between vampires and shifters(werewolves).
saw the movie friday with my husband who has never read the book are saw the first movie.he said that he had no idea what was goin on throught out the movie and i, as a true twilight fan, had to keep feeling him in. i think for amovie to be really good one should not have to read a book are watch the first of the series to be able to understand the plot. beacuse i knew the books well and the first movie i knew what was going on, but i could understand that if you had never had any knowledge of twilight how easy it was to get lost. i thought the movie was okay but it does not come close to touching the book. i know that, that is normally the case with movie and books because the books are always better, but when you watch harry potter and the lord of the rings movie they are really good movie and could be enjoyed even if you had no knowledge of the books. i also find kristen to be as irritating as she was in the fist movie and even though taylor was as good looking as rob ever thought of being he is not that great of an actor. i think that new moon the movie just like twilight will be a really big hit not because of the great acting, movie plot, and special effects but because the books are great, the fans are truely devoted fans, and because any little bit we can get for bella’s and edward’s world we will take it.
I 100% agree with Dave. If they just made the movies a little more interesting this franchise could have been like Harry Potter and opened the doors for a whole new fan base. When I saw the original Twilight I was bored to tears because I’m not a moody teenage girl. It wouldn’t take much, a little more action and maybe a little humor or at least someone in the movie being happy for at least 30 seconds.
I’m pretty sure the fan base wouldn’t even care about a few little changes because they would be too busy screaming every time Pattinson came on the screen.
People who hate on it can hate all they want. For the critics, let me just clear this up for you: NOBODY ACTUALLY CARES WHAT YOU THINK! If you think your opinion actually makes a difference, you better pull your head out of your butt because you are sadly mistaken. Guess who the cast and crew wants to please? THE FANS! And…overall, the fans loved it. New Moon made over 140 million dollars opening weekend, and broke box office records. It’s really naive of people to think the movie was a fail when it made, and continue to makes, loads of money. The Twilight fans, aka the people whose opinions the cast and crew care about, liked it. So critics can get off their high horses and realize…they don’t speak for us, and we couldn’t care less about what they have to say.
Ok well this is my opinion….. I loved the twilight books they were amazing I couldn’t stop reading them and I couldn’t believe it was just books! But when I saw the movies i felt ashamed to even call myself a Twilight fan. They were slow and the fight scene in Twilight was so boring and a waste of my time. If people like the people who made Harry Potter or the Lord of Rings ( like said above ) made it, it would be 100% better. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are great actors too so its not their fault the movies sucked big time. Now don’t bash me because this is my opinion!
Loving the books not so much the movies!
Look, I don’t want to bash anyone’s likes or dislikes. It’s just a terrible reflection on the state of the world. Cheesy soap opera meets vampires is one of the best selling movies of all time? The world is doomed. I went out and bought a gun and canned food, because these stupid books won’t save you from the collapse of civilization. The fact that all these morons love this movie just goes to show you how stupid people are. I’m going to write a series just like this and make hundreds of millions of dollars on people’s stupidity. Then when the franchise is done and all the movies have been made, I’m going to write a final epilogue. In it, I’m going to destroy the main character. He’s going to lose whatever crappy powers I made him have in the other books, he’s going to go broke both emotionally and financially, and he’s going to have to get a part time job as a greeter with Wal-Mart. Then just as he’s reached his low, he’s going to get arrested for male prostitution and attempted arson after he gets caught trying to burn down his Wal-Mart location while simultaneously giving a 65 year old married executive of a food supply company a hand job in the loading dock. Then, in the final chapter, I’m going to laugh and laugh and call out the entire fan base for being such suckers, and thank them for their millions of ill spent dollars. It will be glorious.
Look \"Diane\". Nobody likes a jerk and that\’s exactly whAT you are. And 1- Books have To go through proofreading and publishing and 5 out of 10 times they won\’t let you publish your book because its terrible (like you and your comments). They wouldn\’t let a bOOK like that be published. AND SHUTUP! Stop wasting your life bashing on things you don\’t like and just find something you DO like. Who cares if you don\’t like the series? WE DONT\’T! that\’s your opinion and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but that doesn\’t mean you get the right to belittle things that people like. How would you feel if everyday your families, friends, teachers, boss, whatever bashesd about how ugly yourr clothes are and about how they hate the movies you like because the people in them are stupid idiots with butt ugly faces that no one should ever look upon without eye protection? YOU WOULDNT WANT TO HEAR IT. its your opinion that you like them and they should RESPECT your opinion not be a jerk about it. Just say I don\’t really like_____ and that\’s it. that\’s all anyone wants to hear. stop wasting your lives being jerks and find something you LIKE.
For these people that need to defend a movie or a book, its very immature everyone is entitled to there own opinion if it is good or bad. I think the movies are horrible bad acting ex. and the books drag on about the love Bella has for Edward …boring.
So overall you like the book , say it
If you don’t like me say it
But dont start calling people names because of there opinion
Just immature.
