Buffy the Vampire Slayer is very sacred to Horror Yearbook and so is its creator Joss Whedon. So we are sad for him that Fox has decided not to renew his TV show Dollhouse. The good news for Dollhouse fans is that Fox will air the rest of the episodes beginning in December. Something they did not do with Firefly when they canceled the show before it had a chance to finish its ongoing story.
Hopefully Whedon has learned his lesson and will give up on the major networks. With the way the Scy-Fy channel handled its successful Battlestar Galactica show, it is odd that Whedon hasn’t decided to develop a series for them. He should really consider it.
Next up for the writer is his horror film The Cabin in the Woods slated for a 2011 release. Meanwhile his fantasy/thriller Goners sits in development hell.

Why bother doing anything with SyFy….they have proven they don’t want to be associated with Science Fiction or anything of that nature. Why do you think they changed their name….
Don’t believe me? Go find their initial press release about the name change. They said the term SciFi had a negative image……yah and SyFy has such a better one!!!!
Why do you think the BSG special “The Plan” came out on DVD first…because they can’t trust Syfy to give them the proper screening…it’s not the same channel when BSG was on the air.
Sy-Fy, HBO, FX any cable network that would be happy to have a decent show with a cult following.
The Plan hit dvd first cuz it was god-awful fan-fare. u r missing the point tho..
Dollhouse.. so much potential & yet.. how the fuck couldn’t Whedon realise the show was boring as fuck? i mean shit.. the show was threatened to be canceled, practically every 3 episodes.
Whedon is stupid . took him 10yrs of development to strike gold once.. & on the 2nd try. hack. not wes craven hack.. but still a hack..
i guess he will (as usual) play off the show’s, and his own failures, off as.. being a fag who would rather spend time with his family.. getting by off the residules of past work (welfare checks).
if the bitch isn’t gonna even TRY to make anything decent.. he needs to consider a career change.
Please remove that nasty homophobic rant from murderpunk.
I hope this doesn’t offend fans of Joss, but in my opinion, this cancellation is actually good news. I gave Dollhouse a lot of chances, solely based on Joss’s track record, but I think the premise was fundamentally flawed. It also lacked a certain lightness and fun, that I had a hard time caring about the characters. Actually, after so many episodes, they still came off as cyphers. Maybe that was unavoidable, given the premise of the show.
Still, I can’t say I’m sad to see it ended. Fox gave it plenty of chances, but the flagging ratings seem to indicate that even those who were taken with the show, became less invovled as the show wore on.
The best news is that Joss can move beyond this misfire and start working on a new project. It may be hard to hear, but if it wasn’t for Dollhouse ending, how long would it have been before Joss got the chance to launch a new project, one which may actually attract more fans than it repelled.
And next time… go the route of a 13 episode series on one of the smaller networks. FX, AMC, HBO, Showtime…
(Dollhouse would have worked quite well as a movie, or mini-series, but the concept was too flawed to sustain a full series…)

Agreed.
By the way, you attribute to Whedon a comment made by Screen Rant, not by Whedon.
I sure did thanks for pointing it out. A copy and paste not paying attention error.
Unfortunately I agree with Scott Thompson. I’m a huge fan of Whedon’s work. I tried to watch Dollhouse on Hulu when it originally aired and lost interest. I bought it on DVD and could not finish the DVD, so I didn’t even bother to watch the 2nd season. I just could not get into the show no matter how much I tried. It says something if even Joss fans aren’t supporting the show.
I\’m fan of Joss Whedon’s shows and I watched Dollhouse and I liked it, but I never got into that show as much as into the other Whedon\’s shows… I\’m mostly a fan of Buffy and Angel shows and I think Joss should make some Buffy related spin-offs instead Dollhouse. He had plans for Spike tv show, Faith and Riper. These 3 shows would be better than Dollhouse… And I\’m a huge fan of Spike, he\’s my favorite character not only in the Whedonverse and I\’m dying to see him back on the tv in his own show… The vampire’s shows are very popular now – Spike was the best Whedon\’s character and he\’s still one of the most popular vampires with a huge fan base . Joss has to think about a new Spike-project and he should change the tv network – Fox definitely suck!
I’d love to see a Spike tv show by Sy-Fy channel!
geez i say fag once & everyone whines like little girls. this is fucking 2009 ppl, “fag” no longer has anything to do with gay ppl.. get with the times!
I like Dollhouse. Just because it isn’t Buffy, doesn’t mean it isn’t good. It’s just too intellectual for Fox (and most of the ranting losers posting above).
