I’m crossing my fingers that Daybreakers will kick off a great year for horror on January 8th, 2010. January is normally the time of year when Hollywood likes to dump their “garbage,” but as the saying goes — “one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure,” — and it is normally a great month for horror fans. We tend to get one or two kick butt films from January each year.

This year Daybreakers looks like it has a lot of potential to be one of the better horror films of 2010, and I have heard a lot of great things about it from the Toronto International Film Festival. The end of January offers the decent looking Legion, an action/thriller with supernatural elements. I’m not promising Legion is going to win any Academy Awards, but check out the red band trailer and tell me this is not one superb looking crapfest!

Ethan Hawke plays Edward Dalton, a researcher in the year 2019, in which an unknown plague has transformed the world’s population into vampires. As the human population nears extinction, vampires must capture and farm every remaining human, or find a blood substitute before time runs out. However, a covert group of vampires makes a remarkable discovery, one which has the power to save the human race.
