Chunks of Bits & Pieces: RE4 Synopsis, Zombie2Land, Mirrors 2 Director, & Red State Gets Financial Aid!

RE: Afterlife Synopsis

Are you ready for more Resident Evil on the big screen? Frankly, I feel the novelty is gone. I wished for a close to video game adaptation and got a half-assed spinoff instead. Resident Evil: Afterlife only gives me little joy that a new movie is coming out. Finally, we receive a synopsis on what Afterlife will bring to us.

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.” This doens’t sound very exciting or new. Sounds like your average zombie movie. Sigh…

Zombieland 2?

Though this is very early speculation, there has been slight talk of a sequel to the popular undead comedy. One of the screenwriters, Paul Wernick, believes there is a good chance that there will be a sequel and speaks about it to MTV.

Wernick had this to say, “We would love it, and everyone involved creatively wants to do another one… Woody [Harrelson] came up to us after the final cut of the last scene and gave us a hug and said, ‘I’ve never wanted to do a sequel in the previous movies I’ve done until this one’… It has lived in our heads for four-and-a-half years… We developed it and wrote it as a spec TV pilot in the summer of 2005. We’ve got a long brainstorming document that still to this day gets updated on a near-weekly basis with ideas. We’ve got tons of new ideas swimming in our head.

Mirrors 2, really?

Alexander Aja’s Mirrors wasn’t a total snaffu but it wasn’t that great either. Don’t get me wrong, I love Keifer Sutherland – nobody can play a Lost Boy better than him. Honestly, I don’t see how they could do a second Mirrors movie.

Anyway, Victor Garcia, the director behind Return to House on Haunted Hill, will helm the sequel that will tell the tale of a man “losing his fiancee in a car crash, for which he blames himself, suicidal Max Matheson reluctantly takes a job as a night watchman at his father’s Mayflower Department Store. When his co-workers are killed off in gruesome and horrible ways and Max begins to see a mysterious young woman in all the store’s mirrors, desperate to communicate with him, he fears he’s losing his mind, or that he may be the next victim.

Smith’s Red State Funded?

Screenwriter and director Kevin Smith is usually makes moves that are witty in dialogue and contain much controversial and Star Wars content. Now, he wants to do a horror movie and has had one written for quite a while. It is titled Red State and the only reason you may have never heard of it is because there has been no production on it what so ever. It has been stalled due to not getting any sort of funds. It isn’t a typical Smith movie nor is it highly commercial.

However, some light has shined up Red State. It seems Smith finally obtained funds for the long awaited horror film of his. He called up Den of Geek.com and told them, “I think we’ve got the money for Red State.” After double checking, it was confirmed that there was funding for the project. However, there is no word on whether this will be Smith’s next project.
