There are some pieces of news like posters and videos that we just don’t know if they’re official or very well done fan made. This viral video, supposedly for Cloverfield 2, is one of those pieces of news. It looks good enough for me to post it here at HorrorYearbook.
We’ve heard bits and pieces of news around the interwebs of a sequel to the 2008 hit monster flick that took New York city under terror’s cloak. But the news for the sequel hasn’t been concrete. So, I’m asking for a little help here. Is this a fake video? Also, look closely in the video. Usually, these viral videos have clues within them – of the not so obvious nature. If you see anything suspicious, point it out and comment the time marker
UPDATE: I took a screen shot of one of the scenes that flash on the video. You can see it here. — WIL
UPDATE #2: I found a possible one sheet. It hasn’t been confirmed whether fake or not (looks fake) but no one has said otherwise. You can see it here. — Steven
In the first Cloverfield, the US Defense Department finds a videotape in the former Central Park. The footage shows a group of friends celebrating a surprise farewell party in the apartment of Rob Hawkins in Lower Manhattan. Rob is a young man that is leaving New York to work in Japan and his friend Hud is recording messages from his friends. Out of the blue, they are surprised by an earthquake and they see on the news that a ship has capsized in the harbor area. They go to the penthouse to see the accident and they actually witness explosions everywhere; when power goes out in the building, they run to the streets trying to save their lives from the attack of the monster.
