Say It Ain’t So! Michael Bay to Remake ‘The Tenant?’

I hate Michael Bay. I don’t care for his production company called Platinum Dunes either. How does one go from directing Playboy and music videos to getting a classic 80′s childhood sci-fi television series movie deal? It is beyond me.

Today, I learned that Bay will producing a remake of Roman Polanski’s 1976 psychological thriller The Tenant. For now, this is only a rumor until I hear confirmation but I can’t help but to not hold back any comment or opinion I may have about this. I have The Tenant on DVD and not many people can say that. It is a very unlikely film for Bay to pick up because there are no bells, whistles or anything remotely flashy about the cult film. He’ll probably get Shia LaDouche to play Trelkovsky, the lead character played by Polanksi himself in the original, and then he’ll throw in loads of assault rifles and million dollar car chases through France.

Bay has already ruined a few horror movies with his production company – remakes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th come to mind. However, I won’t be holding my breath on the confirmation of this rumor for I am sure it will be false but, as of now, I am going to voice myself.

Polanksi’s The Tenant is a story of “a quiet and inconspicuous man (Trelkovsky) rents an apartment in France where the previous tenant committed suicide, and begins to suspect his landlord and neighbors are trying to subtly change him into the last tenant so that he too will kill himself.” The trailer is below.
