What is on Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 Soundtrack?

It’s Sunday and I’m bored of watching bad “dramas” on TNT, so I dug up some info on Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 soundtrack.

Zombie’s movies take soundtracks back to the old days — before they were just another cheap tie-in — by including songs that he feels fit the mood of a scene. I applaud him for not filling his movies with music that would just sell a few more CDs, or make himself an extra few bucks on Itunes downloads. How badly could he have sold out by writing his own new single for Halloween or The Devil’s Rejects? Instead he took a lot of crap for including “Freebird” and “Love Hurts” in the films, and has said that he would never use his own songs.

So what is on the Halloween 2 soundtrack? Well it looks like “Love Hurts” makes a comeback, and the first track is “Nights in White Satin” by the Moody Blues (Zombie grew up in the 70s, what did you expect?). There are two tracks by the band, Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures, that he has been pushing on MySpace, and the one Motörhead song seems to be nullified by the Rod Stewart track also included in the film. Stewart is not the first person you think of when it comes to the slasher genre.

Once again the Halloween 2 soundtrack seems to be an odd mix of music, adding to Zombie’s legacy of featuring eclectic collections of songs in his films. The strangest thing is there is nothing by Weird Al, who has a cameo in the film.
