Both the Wolfman and Avatar trailers made their online debut today, and I have to admit the CGI heavy James Cameron film kind of looks bad.
The trailer for Benicio Del Toro’s The Wolfman, with special effects by Rick Baker, looks a lot better. Although I honestly have very little interest in both films, I will probably see them in theaters anyway. Don’t judge a book by its cover and all that crap…
Watch the trailers below and let us know which one you think is better.
Avatar
Director: James Cameron
Writer: James Cameron
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Cast: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver
Release: December 18, 2009
Synopsis:
Avatar takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery, as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization. The film was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, Avatar delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

The Wolfman
Director: Joe Johnston
Writer: Andrew Kevin Walker
Studio: Universal Pictures
Cast: Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt
Release: February 12, 2010
Synopsis:
Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother…and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Joe Johnston directs The Wolfman, and six-time Oscar-winning special effects artist Rick Baker brings his design and makeup talents to transform Del Toro into the fearsome title character.

Neither. They both Fail. Time to wait 2 more years for a good film.
I think both trailers are interesting but The Wolfman looks more to my liking. The Avatar graphics look very World of Warcraft like.
that was a joke right: The Wolfman looks a lot better than Avatar.haha.very funny.
The Wolfman has only some few effectshots and that’s much more easy to achieve than the epic Avatar movie as a whole.
don’t judge a movie by it’s 2D trailer in low quality.(even 1080p version looks nothing like the 3D version on a big screen it is made for…
That is why I said “Don’t judge a book by its cover…” but the trailer does look like crap. They should have not released a 2D trailer online if it makes it look so bad.
I didn’t expect Avatar to look like a video game. It will make money because of the hype surrounding it, but doesn’t look any different from something any director/studio could put out in a year or so. I have a feeling it will be just like Superman Returns: a movie that has been in development for far too long, with little payoff.
I think the Avatar trailer has me more excited. I think th scope will be epic and I want to see if it delivers. They do have months to polish the CGI which could use a slight touch up here and there… but still Iplan to see it even as is. Wolfman can wait for a Redbox release.
Besides remember Waterworld? How many people wen to se ethat JUST TO SEE what a $200 Million dollar movie looked like back in the day. That sucked donkey cheese. I think Avatar will be a much better movie(story+effect, ect.) overall.
lol man Avatar looks so fucking gay. it MIGHT be worth watching if the blue cat bitch showed her tits.. but that’d be the only reason.
Wolfman doesn’t look bad at all.. despite the abundance of boringly overexposed actors.
Hello, since when do special effects make a movie? Without story a movie’s crap. Look at the power behind these films – James Cameron, Sam Worthington, Joe Johnston, Benicio Del Torro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving. Both of these films look amazing! I’m more of a wolfman fan, but I also say it’s about time for an epic sci-fi movie that doesn’t begin with “Star Wars.”
Yeah, the Avatar trailer didn’t look so photorealistic in terms of special effects. Oh well.
It’s titacular!
I think James Cameron would have been better off making a Titanic 2, than making Avatar, I was all hyped about seeing until I saw that trailer. WTF is I wanted to watching something really cgi looking, I would watch Pixar movies. Cameron go back to the rock you have been under for the last 12 years, because it hasn’t done you any good.
after seeing the IMAX 3D presentation (which includes the trailer and 15 minutes of footage) i can say that this looks far better in 3D on such a large screen as IMAX has.
visual effects are far better than anything shown in a movie to date.period.
don’t think that this low quality(small size,no 3D) judges the look for this film.
it’s not fair for cameron.
and it will deliver a good story.an original story mixed of all the elements that a good sci-fi is made of and beyond.
not like the crap that we get shown nowadays in the cinemas like sequels, prequels, remaxes, reboots, movie out of a comic, toy or book…that
I fixed the trailer for the 3rd time now. Hopefully this one stays up!
